Genesis 1:26 NKJV
26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
Genesis 2:18 NKJV
18 And the Lord God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.”
Genesis 2:20 NKJV
20 So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him.
God formed man in His image, then said, “It’s not good for man to be alone.”
We are Fellowship Machines!
That means if we get consumed with anything else, it’s not just that our priorities are off, it’s that we’re not even doing what we were designed to do!
Why do you think you can talk and hear?
Why do you think you have eyes?
Why do you think you have a sense of touch?
eating is secondary!
Surviving is secondary!
If you aren’t walking in fellowship, you are living a broken life.
What happens when things are broken?
Fellowship is with two different things:
God
Others
How do I know this is the most important?
The first and second greatest commandments.
Matthew 22:37–40 NKJV
37 Jesus said to him, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”
Do You Fellowship with God?
Prayer should be FELLOWSHIP!
His presence comes in and you simply spend time with Him.
You communicate with Him using His languages:
tongues
faith
Worship
You can do that for hours.
Most people never get past asking for stuff.
Do you Prioritize Fellowship with Others?
Isolation is new!
30 years ago, it wasn’t even possible! What would you be able to do if you never left your house?
Amazon is new.
Video calling is new.
Video chat rooms are new.
Online gaming is new.
Food delivery is REALLY new.
With phones and the internet, TONS of work from home jobs were created. Work from home jobs are REALLY new. They were the stuff of total fiction until VERY recently.
We were created specifically to NOT be isolated.
Are you okay with isolation?
The truth is, we should be scared of our thoughts!
Not that they’re bigger than God, but that God designed us to be in continual fellowship!
Think about it, if we aren’t fellowshipping, our life is broken! What else COULD happen to our thoughts?
If we allow isolation to be frequent, our thoughts become futile!
God’s protection against our own thoughts is Fellowship. Fellowship with Him first, and others next.
WORK ON FELLOWSHIP!
Romans 1:18–23 NKJV
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.
What did they do? They allowed their thoughts to bounce around, Godlessly. They didn’t glorify Him, nor thank Him. They became “futile” in their thoughts!
Futile: to be futile v. — to be or become useless as a consequence of being purposeless or incapable of producing results.
Darkened: to become inane ⇔ darken v. — to be or become unable or unwilling to perceive or understand; conceived as becoming more deficient in light or brightness.
The result was a corruption of God in their mind. The result was that God became like a corruptible man.
What did they need to do differently?
Glorify Him AS GOD
Be THANKFUL!
we should have a healthy, Godly fear of our thoughts.
isolation is new.
Isolation + targeted algorithms = disaster.
What area of life are you in? Ministry? Sales? Raising a family? School? Career Advancement?
whatever area it is, there is plenty to target you. in fact, the algorithm delivers to you based on what you look at. You are bombarded by reasons to feel inadequate,
