Colossians 2:6-10

v.6 Paul gives instruction to the believers

As you received Christ (by Faith) , SO WALK in Him (by Faith)

I believe Paul wants us to walk each day with confidence of faith just like the confidence of faith we experienced the day of our Salvation.

v.7 Paul continues his thoughts:

having been firmly rooted(past tense, done, completed)

and now being built up (Active, walking in Him) to continually edified and strengthened in the Faith!

As we are built up in Christ, we become more grateful and thankful for the gift we have received from Christ.

v.8-10

After Paul Encourages believers to continue in Christ, he then condemns the Colossian heresy that was diverting them from Christ....

*Gnosticism is wrong: Deity is in Christ

Definition: Religious thought distinguished by claims to obscure and mystical knowledge, and emphasizing knowledge rather than faith.

Don’t be taken Captive with these thoughts, battle of the mind.

Guard your mind by thinking only about Christ

v.9 Paul again explains that Christ is Deity!

Paul clearly states that ALL THE FULLNESS OF GOD DWELLS IN BODILY FORM, THE BODY OF CHRIST

V.10

And we are complete in Him. (we partake of His Divine Nature)

2 Peter 1:4 NASB95
For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.

Paul also states that Christ is head of ALL RULE AND AUTHORITY.

Including those who would talk the Colossians into living according to the world instead of according to Christ.

*next week Paul addresses Legalism
