At this point, it would be understandable if someone looked at Jesus’ ministry and called it a “one man show”
Miracles, authoritative teachings (Matthew 7:29), calling disciples to follow Him, crowds were following Him, ministering & healing, love, care, compassion, etc.

That’s where we are stepping into in Jesus’ life
verse 35
Jesus is going about to all the towns and villages, tending to His business
What do you think Jesus was seeing?
human depravity, need, and rollercoaster experience
religious leaders, scribes, Roman government, tax collectors, everyday people

Jesus walked among these people amid their everyday life and ecosystems
What was Jesus’ response that we’re told of in v. 36?
He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and dejected, like sheep without a shepherd
Who ever feels distressed?
Jesus knows.

Jesus is the Good Shepherd (John 10:11-18).

yet the next words that Jesus’ says, in His compassion, may be a little more surprising & confusing
He’s not just like “I’m your Shepherd, and you’re my sheep.
We’re good fam”
verse 37-38
“harvest is abundant”
people are in need.
These needs are met in the work and person of Jesus Christ.
The coming of God’s Kingdom
“workers are few”
I’ve been set free.. what now?
What now?

Don’t just stand there.
Don’t just sit there.
We weren’t made to be idle
God’s streams of Living Water isn’t meant to follow into you, puddle up, get stagnant, and stink
Anybody now that gross watershed puddle or pond that is just gross?
It reeks?
I don’t want you to stank.
I’m sure you don’t want to stank.
I don’t think anyone wants you to stank.
Spiritual stink - much worse than a BO stink
How do you keep from stinking?
step onto the playing field.
Step into the game
actively praying.
actively helping and comforting
actively sharing the Gospel
actively inviting people in to hear about Jesus and His love
actively caring for others before yourself
reading God’s Word.
Learning God’s Will.
keep from stinkin’ thinkin’ - know who you are.
Know your place.
Don’t be defeated before your feet hit the ground.

Jesus calls us into the work of the Kingdom.
Into the harvest.
He wants us (I want you)!!
It isn’t about us.
We get to pour ourselves out for Christ’s eternal kingdom.
We get to be wrung out for a glorious, incomparable purpose and call (Ask not…)
Let Streams of Living Water flow outta you
Spear to the side of Christ… water flowed out
We work for joy from joy
We work for peace from peace
We love because we’ve been loved
