INTRODUCTION

The Book of Life, is a record of the names of people who are destined for paradise or eternal Hell.
It is also said in the bible that this book of names was written before the Heavens and the Earth were created! Eph 1:11
Ephesians 1:11 ESV
In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will,
see also; Ps 115:3 ; Ps 135:5–7; Ps 139:16; Da 4:35; Ac 4:28; Ro 8:28–9:33; Ro 11:33–36; Eph 1:5–11; Re 4:11.Ro 8:23, 29, 30,
However, there’s much debate on whether or not Salvation is or is not predetermined- before it ever happened-which says,” God knows everything, before it happens.”
It’s hard enough, as I go to understand things I know little or nothing about! Yet, there are some things in this world & above-- that my mind just isn’t capable of comprehending, even if I’m told-explained too-- over and over.
The Book of Life, just happens to be one of those uncomprehendable-big thoughts! That’s why I decided to do a Sermon to challenge us on this topic. To help better understand God’s Book of Life-the Bible!
What does it Say? What does it Mean? What does it mean to Me ‘Us’?

Did you know if your name is not written in this Book -your Thrown into the Lake of Fire -better known as, Hell!

Rev 20:15
Revelation 20:15 ESV
And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
Before I go any futher, there are two words that needs some clearifcation-Thrown & Lake of Fire?
Thrown?
Gk word ballō; a prim. word; to throw, cast: See Mt 5:30
Matthew 5:30 (ESV)
And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body go into hell.
Matthews account of throw is the same Gk word ballō; a prim. word; to throw, cast: However, here in Matt 5:30 is God’s way of showing us the seriousness of sin---and before a soul gets casted—Thrown into Hell---Gk word Gehenna, a valley just W. and S. of Jerusalem., also a symbolic name for the final place of punishment of the ungodly:—hell(12)
I believe God is telling us--we are to throw, cast sin into the flames where it belongs! Here we see a metaphor with the hand—Which we can do all sort of evils ---with the hand we can kill , build idols etc. with the eyes we can lust and so on. God wants us to be as serious with putting away our sins as it would be to cut off a part of our body ---Again, I believe Matt 5:30 is ment Figuratively, that if we cut off a part of our body, it would be better than being cast into Hell!
Again, a metaphor, not to be taken literal, serious about repentance!
God knows its, heart and mind issues we deal with. He rebuked Peter, because of the influence Satan had on Peter in His Mind! Mk 8:33
Its a spiritural battle we face on a daily bases and we must dress ourselve with Gods armor if we are to be victorious agaisn’t Satan’s lie’s, and how the vial Serpentant is out to destroy God’s people! See Eph 6:10

Put on the Full Armor

God knows we are weak and in need of His help. There is know way we can fight this battle on our own. We face a real enemy, a spiritural realm we do not see- Rev 12:3-4, John McAyrthur says in --- 12:4 a third of the stars of heaven. Satan’s original rebellion (cf. Is 14:12ff.; Eze 28:11ff.) resulted in one-third of the angelic host joining his insurrection and becoming demons. Isa 14:12, Eze 28:11 Thats a lot of Demons running around, but He sees and will fight the battle for us! The battle is not our own!
see Eph 6:10-18, Eph 4:24, Ro 13:14, Col 3:10, Ro 13:12, 2 Cor 10:4, 1 Thess 5:8, 1 Cor 10:13, Heb 7:25, Jude 1:24, Eph 4:14, Mark 13:22, 2 Cor 2:11
we need to be on board now, for we do not know what tomorrow will bring? Just look at the world today-2021 is not the year we as believers in Christ Jesus want to be slaking, undressed for battle, found unready for the master to knock.
Look, the times will go from bad to worst, so much ahead of us that the bible says will be so bad the unsaved will wish to die, but death will flee them, they will wish for the mountains to fall on them, but they won’t. We are told that people who refuse Salvation in Jesus, will believe the lie that Satan will conjur up during the coming 7 Tribulation period spoken by the prophet Daniel 9:24-27 Tes, in the Tribulation Satan will rule for 7 years and things will just go from bad to worst. There will even be a World system that people wont be able to buy or sell unless they have the Mark of the Beast Rev 13:16 , 1 Thess 1:10 And the Unsaved & saved are also, during that time going to face sufferen like never before -thats quit bad to say the least-conciding all the bad things that has happened in the past!
Believers, take heart, for you and I will not have to face all that, because God will spare us See Rev 3:10, 1 Thess 4:15-17, John 14:1-3, 1 Cor 15:51-52
Also, know that our enemy the Devil will one day be gone for ever!
See Rev 20:10
Revelation 20:10 (ESV)
and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
Not only is the Devil, beast “antichrist” and false Prophet Thrown into the Lake of Fire, but also all those whose names that are not found in the Book of Life, including those who excepted the mark of the beast Rev 13:16 during the Tribulation will be encluded with all before them having their names missing from the Book of Life!
Lets take a look at this Lake of Fire and try to understand better what it is or is not?
Lake of Fire Rev 20:15
Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament based on Semantic Domains 1.22 λίμνη τοῦ πυρὸς (καὶ θείου)

(καὶ θείου): (an idiom, literally ‘lake of fire (and sulfur),’ occurring in some slightly different forms six times in Revelation, three times with the addition of θεῖον ‘sulfur’) a place of eternal punishment and destruction—‘lake of fire, hell

πῦρ pur; a prim. word; fire:—burning(2), fiery(2), fire(69)

Rev 20:11-15 refers to the judgment before the Great White Throne of the wicked dead, who according to verse 5 would not be resurrected until after the thousand years ended and then Satan after being release a short time to delude the people for the last time will then be Thrown it the Lake of Fire- with the Antichrist and False Prophet and all those whose name is not written in the book of life
See also;
Mark 16:16, John 3:18, 19, 36, Acts 4:12, Heb 2:3, 12:25, 1 John 5:11, 12, Rev 19:20, Matt 25:41, Mark 9:43-48

What is it saying?

Revelation 20:15 ESV
And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
Basicly saying two things;
If your name is written, you go directly to Heaven
If your name is not written, you go directly to Hell
Intersting fact; I have two names, one when I was born, second name when I was adopted which I have carried most of my life. So, which name am I reconizied by?
What about the unborn fedus, that don’t make it either by chance or killed. What name is written in the Book of Life for them?
The bible talks of a new birth, being born again. Does it mention getting a new name?

What does it mean, if your name is written or not?

It’s like when I work out of town and find a Hotel to stay at---I register my name in a book and for the time I’m there, everyone knows where to find me--just call the front desk--- ask for me---the clerk will look me up in the register---bingo, there’s my name in a book to say whether or not I’m still there?

The Great Chasm

The only difference between my stay at a hotel vs with God’s Book of life ---is that the names written or not, is eternally written, and you can’t go from one place or the other-There’s a great chasm between Heaven and Hell! Read the story of Lazarus and the rich man Luke 16:19-31 which by the way, may answer the question, do we carry our name from this life to the next? Lazarus and Abraham were called by name-same with Moses and Elijiah at the Transfiguration with Jesus. Matt 17:1-13
Unlike me staying at a hotel for a few weeks or months. I’m able to leave, even though my name will still be in the register, I’m free to go! Not so if your thrown into the lake of Fire! Luke 16:26 there’s no escape, no way out-that’s just horrible, the thought of it you would think make more christian out of sinners ---Hum? Satan, must be a powerful angel to create such dout in man!

What does this have to do with you & I?

Imagine, if I went to check out of that Hotel and they said, “you can’t leave!” Oh my, what if I hated that Hotel and was told I must be there eternally? The thought of it!
Well, what God is saying, here in Rev 20:15, “to all His creation” is far worse or better, depending on if our name is written or not in the Book of Life!

There is Hope1 Death is not to be feared by believers

Death in Adam, Life in Christ
Ro 5:12 Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned—
Ro 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
see also; Eccl 8:8, Ps 90:10, Mt 6:27, Jas 4:14, Pr 11:19

There is only one way to Salvation-Jesus is the only way from being Thrown into the Lake of Fire and having your name in the Book of Life

SALVATION. A term that stands for several Heb. and Gk. words, the general idea being safety, deliverance

see also; Ps 37:40

Salvation is free, but Conditional

In the NT salvation is regarded almost exclusively as from the power and dominion of sin. And of this Jesus Christ is the author (Matt 1:21, Acts 4:12, Heb 2:10, 5:9 ) It is freely offered to all men throw Grace, but is conditioned upon repentance and faith in Christ (see John 3:16, Heb 2:3 )
Acts 4:12 “And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
Saved from what? Rev 20:15
Revelation 20:15 ESV
And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
