What do I want them to know?

God is personally omniscience

Why?

It shows us we are fully known and loved

What do I want them to do? Believe and trust God

Why?

We receive love

Feel?

Loved

This pass Monday I had the blessing and privilege in an event that my sons school put on for dads, called “Donuts with Dad”

As you might expect it is an event where you go to school before school starts to EAT DONUTS with your dad or father figure, which already is an awesome thing to do, I love my kids and like donuts, (it’s a good combination) and they also had games and gifts, this is all done to foster the relationships kids have with their dad or father figure.

This was great and they icing on the cake of the donut was not that I had donuts with my two sons or that we played games or that we received gifts…the best part of the day was at the end when our kids gave us a sheet a paper they filled out about their dad.

These sheets are have humor in them, encouragement in them and things I need to work on in them.

And I brought those today.

Let’s read a couple of the things they said.

You read their answers and it is funny, encouraging that you are doing a decent job as a parent, and it’s heart warming

Why is it heart warming?

Because I see that my kids know me (not perfectly) and love me.

THIS IS ONE OF THE GREATEST DESIRES OF HUMANITY

To be fully known (know every part of us) and fully loved

This is what we look for in a spouse...

We want someone to fully know us and love us as much as humanly possible

This is more important than marrying someone with a BIG BANK ACCOUNT and PERFECT body.

What does it matter if they can BUY you things (often you need to but the things for yourself because they don’t know you) but not know you or care about you??

AT FIRST IT MIGHT BE AWESOME (LOOK AT MY CAR, MY HOUSE, MY THINGS)

BUT IT IS HOLLOW BECAUSE WHAT YOU WANT MORE THAN THINGS IS TO BE KNOW AND LOVED.

ONE OF THE DEEPEST DESIRES OF THE HUMANITY (MORE THAN MONEY AND FAME) IS TO BE FULLY KNOW AND FULLY LOVED

This is what we look for in friendships, relationships, and marriage.

TENSION

BUT THE REALITY, what I am about to say it is not to downplay what we desire from friendships and marriage but to show the right perspective we are to have with relationships.

The question before us is can any human being fully 100% know us and fully love us?

NO

What does a wife say at times about her husband?

“I wish he would understand me.”

What does a husband at times say about his wife “I wish she would understand me.”

What does a child say at times about their parents “You do not not know me or understand me”

The reality of our humanness is were are fallible, we are not perfect.

We cannot FULLY KNOW SOMEONE, NOR FULLY LOVE SOMEONE, even though try, even the best of us.

And we should seek to fully know and love our spouses and children and friends

Also, this is good to know if you place this expectation on your friend or spouse you are setting them up for failure and you for heart break.

I have seen this over and over

And experienced it when I put this on someone

What do we do with this desire to be fully known and fully loved that is somewhat fulfilled by friends and spouses

Is there a place we can go or person we can go to who fully knows us and loves us?

YES

WHERE DO WE GO?

GOD

GOD IS THE ONE WHO FULLY KNOWS US AND LOVES US

Last week we learned about the OMNISCIECNE OF GOD

What’s God’s omniscience?

God is omniscient.

He knows everything: everything possible, everything actual; all events, all creatures, God the past, the present and the future.

He is perfectly acquainted with every detail in the life of every being in heaven, in earth and in hell.

Nothing escapes Hs notice, nothing can be hidden from Him, nothing is forgotten by Him.

Well may we say with the Psalmist, "Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it" (Ps.

139:6).

His knowledge is perfect.

He never errs, never changes, never overlooks anything.....and as Tozer says God needs no teachers

God does not just everything out there (the number of stars, the truth about scientific theory, how were the Pyramids built) , He also knows you and loves you more than you know and love yourself.

THIS TRUTH, THIS REALITY IS WHAT EXPLODES DAVID’S HEART FOR JOY in PSALM 139

David is overwhelmed by the omniscience of God who loves Him and knows Him.

Look at what David says about this thought

This is why David says in Ps 139:6

Let’s read why David says about the omniscience of God and why David’s heart is overwhelmed with JOY because of God’s omniscience

Before we read several verses of this Psalm there are two things to point out.

1.

The word YOU is in the EMPATIC… In the 10 verse we are going to read 12 times David says YOU…its more like YOU! love me You care about me YOU are awesome

David is praising THE LORD

2. Three times the Word YADA which means to fully know

The theme is

YOU! know me

Let’s read

YOU

This word search means to investigate.

God has investigated everything about you and knows everything about you.

There is not a thing God does not know about you

He knows how many hairs on your head

He knows your heart beat right now and what it was 10 days ago at this same time.

123 days ago it was high because she walked in the room or he said I love you.

Computer servers and hard drives HAVE nothing on God

God knows everything about you

Then he further expounds on this in the Psalm

David wants to further explain what this means.

I want to spell this out for us.

I want to show you what this means

YOU

What’s is David saying?

God you know my MOVEMENTS and My Thoughts

You know my movements

You know when I wake up, you know when I sleep, you know when I eat.

There is never a moment that God does not know where you are at or where you are going?

Past, present, future.

You cannot take God for a drive on a surprise trip like I do with my sons to “ice cream”

God you are never guess where I am going to go, even if you take the roundabout way to get there.

Not only do you know my MOVEMENTS you know my thoughts

You know what I am thinking,

YOU KNOW WHAT’S ON MY MIND

SOMETIMES THIS IS WHAT WE WANT FROM OUR SPOUSES AND FRIENDS.

I wish he knew what I was thinking and needing, I wish I did not have to spell it out for them.

God news is God knows what you are thinking and what you are needing.
