Notes
Transcript
As we have walked through this series, “The Far Reaches of Sin,” I pray you have noticed its growth throughout the recorded human history.
Gen. 1-2 - Creation is in its completion.
Gen. 3 - Sin breaks through into human history. Before we blame Satan for everything, listen to the words of James:
James 1:14-15
But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
Gen. 4 - displays the viciousness of sin when one brother strikes down another.
Gen. 4:16-5- follows the trail of sin as humanity begins to abuse the power God gave them over creation:
Lamech - sexual immorality, violence, and blasphemy
Jabal - father of materialism
Jubal - father of music
Tubal-cain - father of metal-working
Noah - meaning rest
Job 14:1
Man that is born of a woman
Is of few days, and full of trouble.

Sin’s Outcome (Gen. 6:7)
Sin’s Outcome (Gen. 6:7)
God WILL DESTROY the entirety of sin.
The Destruction begins with humanity and works its way down through the created order.
Sin’s contagion has spread throughout the whole system, so the whole system must be judged.
Friend, do not fool yourself into believing that the moment of sin’s pleasure will not lead to the catastrophe of sin’s poison.
1 Corinthians 15:56 “The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.”
2 Peter 3:10 “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.”
Sin’s Failure (Gen. 6:8-9)
Sin’s Failure (Gen. 6:8-9)
In the midst of apocalyptic destruction, the Holy Spirit of God moves upon Moses to write these words
But Noah FOUND GRACE in the eyes of the Lord! (v. 8)
Found means Noah took part in aligning himself to receive God’s grace.
Grace means to stoop down or lower oneself. Even Noah’s action was not enough, God had to go the extra mile.
Just as God’s eyes are watching the wicked for judgment. They are watching those who desire grace as well.
Noah’s Description (v. 9)
Just - He lived in accordance to a different standard to His culture.
Perfect - meaning complete. Noah through God’s grace lived a fulfilled life.
Noah intentionally sought a relationship with the Lord.
Sin failed to destroy Noah!

Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
