Jonah is unusual because the prophetic message that is recorded is ONE verse, Jonah 3:4. The focus of the book is not so much the message God called Jonah to deliver but deals much more with Jonah’s struggle about his beliefs concerning God’s justice and God’s compassion. In Jonah’s mind, how could God NOT strike the Ninevites down after all their horrible treatment of other people.
