What is a Sabbaths rest?

Genesis 2:1–3 (NKJV)

1 Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished.

2 And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done.

3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.

Hebrews 4:1–6 (NKJV)

1 Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it.

2 For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it.

3 For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said:

“So I swore in My wrath,

‘They shall not enter My rest,’ ”

although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

4 For He has spoken in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: “And God rested on the seventh day from all His works”; 5 and again in this place: “They shall not enter My rest.”

6 Since therefore it remains that some must enter it, and those to whom it was first preached did not enter because of disobedience,

So what is a Sabbath rest?

The Sabbath was established in the garden of Eden and it was stil in place all the way until Hebreeus time

It actually states it as if it was in question.

Is there a Sabbath rest for Gods people: It answers:

According to verse 11, those who are disobedient will not enter into this rest.

It made me think of the time when I was noughty and my dad would give me a hiding, before the Hiding I had no res, for I knew the hiding is comming.

But when I was in peace with my Dad, I had rest for my soul.

But it is more than that, when I’ve still stayed with my parents, I had no worries of where my next meal will come from or will I loose my job/ my income… My dad sorted it all out and he loved me and I loved him and so we where in harmony, and he cared for me.

Today, you can have the same peace.

You know God provides.

No stress.

But it is even more than that.

He is not only the Lord of you peace, becuase He is you provider.

He is the Lord of the special rest.

The Sabbath rest

You know, when you go on holiday, you take your children with.

When you have free time, your kids are there..

They dont need to make an appointment to see you in your free time, they are just there enjoying the free time with you.

So it is with Sabbat.

Jesus says He is the Lord of the Sabbath and the fact that we spend time with Him in His free time, is the sign that He is our Father, our God...

How do we hallow it, we set it appart to spend time with God in His free time.

In the time He rest.

And so we are His children and He is our God...

And as we rest with God, we become more and more like Him....

It is like me being with my dad for so many years, I do things like he did.

I speak like he did.

This is what is means to be sanctified by God.

He is making us like Him

If you are willing to learn meekness and lowliness of heart in Christ's school, He will surely give you rest and peace.

It is a terribly hard struggle to give up your own will and your own way.

But this lesson learned, you will find rest and peace.

Pride, selfishness, and ambition, must be overcome; your will must be swallowed up in the will of Christ.

The whole life may become one constant love sacrifice, every action a manifestation, and every word an utterance of love.

As the life of the vine circulates through stem and cluster, descends into the lower fibres, and reaches to the topmost leaf, so will the grace and love of Christ burn and abound in the soul, sending its virtues to every part of the being, and pervading every exercise of body and mind.23Letter

In being co-workers with Christ in the great work for which He gave His life, we shall find true rest.

When we were sinners, He gave His life for us.

He wants us to come to Him and learn of Him.

Thus we are to find rest.

He says He will give us rest.

“Learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart.”

In doing this you will find in your own experience the rest that Christ gives, the rest that comes from wearing His yoke and lifting His burdens.24The

A form of godliness without the power is a weariness and burden; but when the whole heart is enlisted in the service of Christ, there is rest to the soul; for God causeth such to triumph daily over the powers of darkness.

God helps him who commits his soul unto the Lord as unto a faithful Creator.25The

Sabbath become a sign that we rest

We rest of stealing

We rest of gossiping

We reast of lying

We rest of coveting

We rest of breaking relationship…

We rest in Good relationships

We salibrate good relationships

We salibrate the fact that we exist and thank God for that

We salibrate life

Through Heb 4:9

implies that God is our Father

So what did Jesus do, expect resting with us on Sabbat?

He healed people.

He’s favourite thing to do on Sabbath was Healing people.

Making them Healthy again.

With rest, Sabbath rest, you rest holistically.

It is not only a physical rest of hard work.

It is an emotional rest, Your Heart is resting .

You rest of sin.

ALSO God wants us to rest from illness.

Body Soal and Mind go into the Sabbath rest…

Close together with Sabbath, is healing.

No long after EG White received the Sabbath vision, she received her first vision on health.

She was shown that we should not use Tabaco, coffee en tee… The Sabbath message and health always go hand in hand..

Through Heb 4:9

implies that God’s rest is holistically

So we have a taste of heaven, our ever lasting rest...

So what did God do before He rested?

God worked, He created all things.
