Ephesians 6:10–20 (NASB95)
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. 14 Stand firm therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18 With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints, 19 and pray on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in proclaiming it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
Several years ago I was breaking my back to pull about 50 feet of deeply rooted bushes out of our property line. The ground was dry so I got my SUV and a chain and pulled them out with ease. My brother and I were trying to replace an O2 sensor on my vehicle and it would not budge. So we used his impact wrench and with a few trigger pulls it was free. April will come to me an hand me a jar which means take the lid off.
We all daily use the strength of others or tools to accomplish something we can’t do on our own. When fighting against the spirit realm it is a must that we do not try to do it in our own strength.

His Strength v.10

1. The word for “Strong” means “to be strengthened for service or action.”(LTW)
2. The word for “Strength” means “power, dominion” referring to God’s manifest power in us.

Our Training v.11-20

“Put on” is a verb usually meaning to put on clothing. V. 10-11 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.
“full armour” This is both offensive and defensive. It is mention twice!
The reason is to stand firm against the “schemes” of the devil. (methods) of the accuser or slanderer. To resist in the evil day v.13
The struggle is spiritual not physical v.12 “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.”
Paul repeats what to do v.12-14a in order to stand firm and “resist in the evil day.”
Every piece of armour is Christ our strength.
Romans 13:14 NASB95
14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts.
NOTE: If Christ is my clothing, if Christ is my friend, my wisdom, my teacher and trainer then the body will follow.
a. waist belt with truth
John 14:6 NASB95
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.
NOTE: Jesus does not simply teach us or share truth with us. He is truth Himself, His existence and character is why truth even exists.
b. Breastplate of Righteousness 1 Cor. 1:30
1 Corinthians 1:30 NASB95
30 But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption,
NOTE: When we trust and follow Christ he leads in what is right and yet just doing right is no protection against spiritual attack. It is the Righteous One in us that guards our heart.
c. Preparation of the gospel of peace. v.15
Ephesians 2:14–15 NASB95
14 For He Himself is our peace, who made both groups into one and broke down the barrier of the dividing wall, 15 by abolishing in His flesh the enmity, which is the Law of commandments contained in ordinances, so that in Himself He might make the two into one new man, thus establishing peace,
NOTE: The gospel of peace is not peace on earth its peace in each heart that comes when a person humbles themselves before Christ, sin is forgiven and relationship is restored. I’m no longer an enemy of God but His child in Christ.
d. Shield of Faith v.16
Acts 20:21 NASB95
21 solemnly testifying to both Jews and Greeks of repentance toward God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.
NOTE: Faith is trusting that Jesus is who He said He was and can do what He says. The enemy will try to get you to question what God said, Gen. 3 but FAITH causes him to flee.
ILLUST: Matthew 4:4
Matthew 4:4 NASB95
4 But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.’ ”

g. Praying at all times in the Spirit
Romans 8:26 NASB95
26 In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words;
CLOSE: You don’t need to get up every day and recite these armour pieces and make a mental assent to put each one on although you can. No your greatest defense and offense is your intimate relationship with the Person of Jesus. He and His word will put to flight 10,000 times 10,000 of demons and their attacks. Anyone can have peace anyone can be free and the answer is in Putting on Jesus.
