This time of year wherever you look is gore and blood.
HHalloween shows no shortage of that.
We are ok with that.
We expect that almost.
But often times when we talk of the Blood it offends.
Especially when talking about the blood of Jesus.
This morning let’s take a moment to think about the power and might that is involved in the blood of Jesus.
Without Blood there can be no life in the physical body.
The evidence of blood flows throughout scripture.
The blood of Jesus Christ keeps the message of Christianity alive.
The word blood is spoken 427 times in the Bible.
It’s important.
Without the blood, the Gospel is dead and there is no eternal life.
Jesus said in:
Paul added in
and He also explained
Then John agreed with Peter and Paul when he wrote this:
The early church got the message there were 22 sermons recorded by the four preachers in the book of Acts.
They all had the same message: the death, burial and resurrection f Jesus Christ.
They knew that His death was the essential ingredient of the Gospel.
Can you see the portrait that we are given here?
It is hard to look at blood.
Many don’t like to see it and some pass out when they see it.
To make blood run there is pain involved… you are cut or injured.
The Bible paints a clear picture for us and breaks it down to the importance in detail.
The blood of Jesus Christ is vital.
But even more important is seeing that God sees the blood applied to our lives and passes over us!
Let’s analyze this:
The Blood is Perfect
There was a plan right from the start.
The virgin birth of Christ which established His righteousness.
Judas cried out “ I have betrayed innocent blood”.
Paul said:
Pilate said:
Jesus said:
He was spoken of as:
Holy
Harmless
undefiled
separate from sinners
made higher than the heavens
sinless
If Jesus had been born by a natural father he would have been born in sin and His death would not have provided redemption.
The virgin birth is essential to the salvation of our souls.
The Bible clearly teaches that Jesus was born of a virgin and did not have original sin.
Matthew quotes Isaiah the prophet saying:
Jeremiah spoke of it years before it happened.
It is certainly was a new thing, out of the ordinary for a woman to give birth to a child without a man.
The Adamic nature (the sin nature) is passed to the offspring through the bloodline.
There were no impurities in the blood of Christ.
Everything about about Christ was perfect including His blood.
The Blood is Pure
Illustration:
When Dr. Curtis Hutson was struggling with cancer, on a number of occasions he went through a treatment called “Keylatio”.
This is similar to dialysis in that the blood is removed from the body and sent through a machine that cleanses the impurities from it and then pumps it back into the body.
This treatment prolonged Dr. Hutson’s life for a long time.
After his blood had been purged of germs, disease, and bad cells, it was then able to work against the enemy cells that were at war with his system.
The writer of Hebrews stated:
When the pure blood of the Savior is applied to the sinner, it provides cleansing.
John explained:
“What can wash away my sin
Nothing but the blood of Jesus
What can make me whole again
Nothing but the blood of Jesus
Oh precious is the flow, that makes me white as snow
No other fount I know
Nothing but the blood of Jesus”
And because it is pur, it is purifying!
The Blood is Powerful!
The songwrite wrote:
Would you be free from the burden of sin?
There's power in the blood, power in the blood
Would you o'er evil a victory win?
There's wonderful power in the blood
There is power, power, wonder-working power
In the blood of the Lamb
There is power, power, wonder-working power
In the precious blood of the Lamb
John wrote
It takes amazing power to do that!
We are told that the evil one, Satan, by the BLOOD of the Lamb!
It takes a lot of power to do that too!
False religion has always denied the blood and its power.
These teachers and many others like them stand in complete opposition to the Bible that declares:
The Blood is Precious
We love to sing “O precious is the flow that makes me white as snow.
No other fount I know.
Nothing but the Blood of Jesus”.
Peter used the term precious to describe the blood of Christ.
He said
I read a story about an old man who had an elabrate collection of art paintings.
Big names like Van Gogh and Monet.
His only son shared His interests in rare paintings.
They travelled all around the world buying paintings wherever they could find them.
The son enlisted in the army and was place in the medical corps.
While carrying a wounded soldier, the son was seriously wounded and died.
The mother was dead already and the news of the sons death devestated the Father.
He grieved and was desperately lonely for months.
One day a knock came on his door and when he opened the door he found a young man with a package.
The young man explained that he was one of the several soldiers that the son had carried to safety.
