The Jews come asking for mental knowledge while void of Spiritual hunger. They looked for a political shepherd instead of God’s Chosen shepherd.

Sheep Need a Shepherd

Jesus is talking about one of the great doctrines of the Bible. John 10 defines eternal security, also called the perseverance of the saints.
Jesus says you are My sheep

Two experiences that tell us we are saved.

Sheep hear the voice of their shepherd. We hear Jesus.
Jesus knows His sheep intimately and we know we are known.
Galatians 4:9 NASB95
But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how is it that you turn back again to the weak and worthless elemental things, to which you desire to be enslaved all over again?

Two actions that reassure us we are safe. We follow Jesus. Jesus gives us eternal life.

John 17:3 NASB95
“This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.
John 10:10 NASB95
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.

Two Promises that secures our salvation. We will never perish. No one can snatch us out of Jesus’ hand.

Will You believe, listen, and follow the Good Shepherd?

Listen to Bible.
Listen to Jesus speak in music:
No guilt in life, no fear in death This is the pow'r of Christ in me From life's first cry to final breath, Jesus commands my destiny. No pow'r of hell, no scheme of man, Can ever pluck me from His hand 'Til He returns or calls me home Here in the pow'r of Christ I'll stand. —Keith Getty
To Follow means to obey. Do what the Bible says expecting in prove God right.
