What Kind of Project Are You?

1 Corinthians 3:7-15
1 Corinthians 3:7–15 ESV
So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. He who plants and he who waters are one, and each will receive his wages according to his labor. For we are God’s fellow workers. You are God’s field, God’s building. According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master builder I laid a foundation, and someone else is building upon it. Let each one take care how he builds upon it. For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw— each one’s work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. If the work that anyone has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire.
What kind of a project are you? How many like projects. I do not. I have lived through enough projects. Our home at different times, have had tools, paint, and lights ready to be used. Not fun. I like it to just be done. How many things in our life are just sitting around? We are all a project in the process of completion.
Philippians 1:6
Philippians 1:6 ESV
And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.
God has left His stamp on you and me. He has left His stamp on the world also if they would have eyes to see.
“On September 7, 1940, 300 German bombers raid London, the first of 57 consecutive nights of bombing which would continue until May 1941.”

On December 29, 1940, Winston Churchill sent word that St. Paul’s Cathedral must be saved at all cost to boost morale.
A bomb had gotten lodged in the roof and did not explode. It burned through the roof and fell to the stone floor which was quickly covered by sand. An article referred to this as luck. There is no luck with God. He left a cross standing high.
Deuteronomy 31:6
Deuteronomy 31:6 ESV
Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”
God has promised to never leave us, so let us never leave Him. He has called us to be His workers. Not one of us is greater than the another. The previous pastor, Rev. Michael Campbell had a burden for Holden and planted this church. He saw many great things happen. He saw this large open space have walls built and begin to turn into a church. God is doing great things and I believe I will see this body of believers grow to 100. Then, if the Lord should tarry, then an another will come after me and do even greater things. Not one is greater than the other. We are all servants, having the privilege to serve the King of Kings and the lord of Lord's.
We are described in this portion of scripture as being God's field. What does your field look like? What are you planting? Are you watering it? Are you pulling weeds? Yes, weeds. Weeds from previous mistakes or temptations grow up to choke out our field. If we are not careful, they can destroy the beauty that God has given us. Work your field.
Ephesians 2:8-9
Ephesians 2:8–9 ESV
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Jesus Christ needs to be our foundation. If we build on anything else than Jesus Christ, it will fail. It will fall flat. Look at the world around us. Jesus Christ is the only answer.
Ephesians 2:10
Ephesians 2:10 ESV
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
What does your temple look like? When King Nebechadnezzar stripped the remaining gold from Solomon's temple and then burned it, it was devastating to the country of Israel. It was a reflection of the state of their own hearts. If everything in our life was passed through the fire right now, but it be as wood and hay and just be burnt up or would we come out as gold?
1 Corinthians 3:16
1 Corinthians 3:16 ESV
Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?
Conclusion:
What kind of project are you? Is you field full of weeds or thorns or is it blooming? What about you temple? Are there half finished projects? Do you trim that needs to up or walls that need to be painted? Maybe there is a part of your temple that is infested by termites and destroying you from the inside out. God has given us all the tools. Are we using them? Do we know how to use them? Using the right tool for the right project makes all the difference.
