The Gospel Message

1. The Gospel is....

1 Cor. 15:1-4 “Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that CHRIST DIED FOR OUR SINS according to the Scriptures, and that HE WAS BURIED, and that He ROSE AGAIN the third day according to the Scriptures,”

Christ died for our sins

He was buried

He rose again on the third day

We are free from power and penalty of sin and will be free of its presence one day.

A. Power Of God To Save

Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.”

1 Cor. 1:18 “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”

1 Thess 1:5 “For our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit and in much assurance, as you know what kind of men we were among you for your sake.”

B. Veiled To Those Perishing

2 Cor. 4:4 “whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.”

1 Cor. 1:18 “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”

2. Those Who Receive It Should

A. Receive life and immortality through Jesus Christ

2 Tim 1:10 “but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel,”

B. Expect Affliction -

2 Tim 3:12 “Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.”

C. Be Unashamed -

Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.”

2 Tim 1:8 “Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God,”

Matt 10:32 ““Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven.”

3. Promises For The Faithful

Reveals eternal life through Jesus Christ - 2 Tim 1:10

The Gospel will save lives - Mark 8:35

Will receive 100 fold in this life and the one to come - Mark 10:29-30

4. The Gospel Must Be Shared

Romans 10:14–15 NKJV

How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!”

How shall they call on the one they have not believed? By believing

How shall they believe on Him? They must hear about Him.

How shall they hear? They must have a preacher

How shall they preach? They must be called and answer the call.
