Today we will be talking about the faithfulness of God
With no further to do let dive into the read of Gods word
Turn with me to ...
I noticed when I was younger in my faith because I did not read my bible. How many people know important the bible is? This is the living breathing word of God. The only book that will convict and start a change in the lives of the people.
Transition; Well that is not what I am preaching about but join me in the text.
Daniel 3:1-7 “King Nebuchadnezzar made an image of gold, whose height was sixty cubits and its breadth six cubits. He set it up on the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon. Then King Nebuchadnezzar sent to gather the high officers, the officials, and the governors, the counselors, the treasurers, the justices, the magistrates, and all the officials of the provinces to come to the dedication of the image that King Nebuchadnezzar had set up. Then the high officers, the officials , and the governors, the counselors, the treasurers, the justices, the magistrates, and all the officials of the provinces gathered for the dedication of the image that King Nebuchadnezzar had set up. And they stood before the image that Nebuchadnezzar had set up. And the herald proclaimed aloud, “You are commanded, O peoples, nations, and languages, that when you hear the sound of the horn, pipe, lyre, trigon, harp, bagpipe, and every kind of music, you are to fall down and worship the golden image that King Nebuchadnezzar has set up. …”
Daniel 3:8 NIV
At this time some astrologers came forward and denounced the Jews.
Who knows when persecution comes that the first person to call you out is someone who worship the creation and not the creator. The person want a reason to destroy our faith
Matthew 5:12 ESV
Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Daniel 3:12–15 ESV
There are certain Jews whom you have appointed over the affairs of the province of Babylon: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. These men, O king, pay no attention to you; they do not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.” Then Nebuchadnezzar in furious rage commanded that Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego be brought. So they brought these men before the king. Nebuchadnezzar answered and said to them, “Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, that you do not serve my gods or worship the golden image that I have set up? Now if you are ready when you hear the sound of the horn, pipe, lyre, trigon, harp, bagpipe, and every kind of music, to fall down and worship the image that I have made, well and good. But if you do not worship, you shall immediately be cast into a burning fiery furnace. And who is the god who will deliver you out of my hands?”
Daniel 3:16-18 “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If this be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king. But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.”
Let God’s faithfulness speak for itself
Context
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered this question in an interesting way because they could of have just said Our God will save us but rather they answer like this. O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. They knew that they did not need to answer this question of “And who is the god who will deliver you out of my hands?” The faithfulness of God was written all throughout Hebrew history with the Exodus. God gave Moses the 10 commandments. God delivered Israel from the hand of Pharoah. Israel were slaves to the Egyptian people but God faithfulness to his people would speak for itself. Moses did not have to question if God loved them because they were his people. God then brought them out of Egypt in which he would teach them to trust him. When Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego was ask to speak on God behalf they said the question you have asked did not need to be answer because their God speaks for himself.
ME
A while ago I had a moment in my life where I was confused about what I was doing and where I was going. I remember praying about it for so long and still I did not hear an answer. I was wondering when the Lord would show up and answer my prayer. The war that was going on inside me questioning everything I have ever did. If I was on the right track? Did I mess up along the way and now I am paying for the consequences. I felt like giving up on everything. Later that night I went to a service and the person who was preaching spoke about idols and at that point God spoke to me about an idol in my life. I was thankful because at that moment I felt the Lord so close to me yet I knew there was things to be done in my life. God faithfulness spoke for itself at that moment because if not for God speaking through him I would not be able to see his love and mercy.
You
How many time have we cried out for God but not trust in his faithfulness? Do we not know our God does not need any answer for himself because he truly is the God he says he is. This last year I could bet many went through so many hardship with the lost of love ones, the lost of normality, and lost of sanity but will we not trust our Lord and believe that his faithfulness will speak for himself. I want the faith just like these 3 Hebrew men to stand in the face of adversity and say that my God does not need answer for he is and why he set things up the way he did. Let us have faith to say “My God will deliver me from this and even if he does not deliver me from this I will stand faith to my God and will not worship your Gods” We need to trust that God faithfulness will speak for itself.
Daniel 3:22-27 “Because the king’s order was urgent and the furnace overheated, the flame of the fire killed those men who took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell bound into the burning fiery furnace. Then King Nebuchadnezzar was astonished and rose up in haste. He declared to his counselors, “Did we not cast three men bound into the fire?” They answered and said to the king, “True, O king.” He answered and said, “But I see four men unbound, walking in the midst of the fire, and they are not hurt; and the appearance of the fourth is like a son of the gods.” Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the door of the burning fiery furnace; he declared, “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, servants of the Most High God, come out, and come here!”
Daniel 3:27–28 ESV
And the satraps, the prefects, the governors, and the king’s counselors gathered together and saw that the fire had not had any power over the bodies of those men. The hair of their heads was not singed, their cloaks were not harmed, and no smell of fire had come upon them. Nebuchadnezzar answered and said, “Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who has sent his angel and delivered his servants, who trusted in him, and set aside the king’s command, and yielded up their bodies rather than serve and worship any god except their own God.
If God for us for can stand against
Context
King Nebuchadnezzar had sentence them to death. The fiery furnace which had already been heated up to a temperature which was used to execute people was heated up seven times that amount. The chances of surviving the normal furnace would not be high. Imagine hearing the news that because you are trying to honor your God and be sentenced tot death. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego had the chance to lie to the king. He gave them a chance to prove their innocence but they chose being guilty in mans eyes was easier than being guilty in the eyes of God.
Matthew 10:28 “And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.”
Me
When I was in my sinner days I had a really bad habit of lying. my lying had got so bad to the point that it did not even matter if I needed to lie I would just because it would almost come out of my mouth. It put such a strain on my relationship with my parents that when I had gone back to God my habit was still stuck with me later God freed me from that. I had to realize that I would rather be innocent in God eye than in the eyes of man.
Context
When King Nebuchadnezzar saw the Hebrew men put into the furnace he fully expected them to die. But something amazing happened when he saw his men that he threw in died but he looked up and saw the Hebrew men standing in the furnace. There was no longer just three men but four. Jesus was standing in the fire with them. If God is for us who can be against.
You
God faithfulness can stand no matter what. How many people could see God in the fire with us. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego did not expect Jesus to be standing with them. They were expecting to be rescued but God had another plan he chose a plan for them that would fix not only the issue of their lives but the issue that their God was not even recognized amongst the people. When God shoes up he shows up in such a way that will solve not only one problem but all the problems. When God who is for us because of his love for us comes in he will stop all the attacks of the enemies, change the lives of the people watching, and can even change the hearts of the nations.
On my road to salvation and for God plan for my life I saw the faithfulness of God. I had grew up in church. My grandfather is a pastor and my parents serve the Lord. I was about eight the first time I gave my heart to the lord. That time did not feel authentic to me.
I was twelve I was up at whited bible camp and there was an alter call on the first day and my heart was just pounding. I made a promise in my heart that I would go to alter give my life if he gave it tomorrow. The next day they gave an alter call and amazing grace was playing in the background. I remember he gave an alter with a count down 1. 2. 3. I about ran and as I was running down so was everyone else. I was thinking where was everybody the first day. I remember I was crying and the pastor told me I had a big heart.
Later when I was 16 I got baptized in the holy spirit and in the moments leading up to I remember thinking about how I did not want to go down. I was still at Whited Bible camp and their was a praying line. My family and I were going down but I tried going to the bathroom to avoid it but when I got back they were about to get prayed over. tell the story
after that I fell away but through those times I could see God faithfulness on my life. The amount of time I had a run in with death was far too many to count. God faithfulness was on me through out the whole thing.
God got a hold of me.
The story of sam and I talking
I was at a church service and song surrounded came on and in the song it says that it might look like I am surrounded by I am surrounded by you
2 kings 6:15-17 “When the servant of the man of God rose early in the morning and went out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was all around the city. And the servant said, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?” He said, “Do not be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” Then Elisha prayed and said, “O Lord, please open his eyes that he may see.” So the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”
