For many, the word stewardship triggers an immediate defensive reaction and a closed mind.
Giving to God seems to be a threat to our independence and our standard of living.
Yet, a true understanding of stewardship is essential for us to grow as Christians.
God wants us to give for our benefit.
We live in a consumeristic society, a society that equates personal happiness with the purchase of material possessions.
The habits of our mind shape our lives and decision-making to such an extent that they can lead to self-deception.
Paul used the passive voice.
Paul used the imperative mood.
We need to understand that our minds are shaped by what we put into them.
We need to live consistently with the desire of the Spirit, by being absorbed in the things of the Spirit.
We need to follow the formula of the early church in Acts 2:42.
We need to deliberately make choices and set goals to grow spiritually.
Transformation involves our whole lives.
