Mark 4:1 And he began again to teach by the sea side: and there was gathered unto him a great multitude, so that he entered into a ship, and sat in the sea; and the whole multitude was by the sea on the land. 2 And he taught them many things by parables, and said unto them in his doctrine, 3 Hearken; Behold, there went out a sower to sow:
To begin with All through-out the developing stages of our lives God. gives us what we need to make it, and Seeds are choices. It is imperative to sow some good seeds, because you will get reap what ever you have sown.
I’m still harvesting a few bell peppers from plants I planted during the Easter Holiday season. And I noticed that I never saw any other vegetables on my bell pepper plants but bell peppers.
What kind of Seeds are you Sowing
There are many different text we can use to illustrate the seed sowing concept. but the words of Jesus describes it best. So let’s look at Mark 4 and get some insight to sowing and reaping.
Mark 4:1 And he began again to teach by the sea side: and there was gathered unto him a great multitude, so that he entered into a ship, and sat in the sea; and the whole multitude was by the sea on the land.
In other words Jesus got in Peter’s boat and push off from the land and sat down and taught the people.
In the seminary I learned that You sit down to teach but you stand up to preach.
2 And he taught them many things by parables, and said unto them in his doctrine,
Jesus used parables to teach the people of God.
What is a parable? And and and
Do you know how to properly answer a person on the subject of a parable?
A parable is a story or figure placed alongside a teaching to help us understand its meaning. It is much more than “an earthly story with a heavenly meaning.” A true parable gets the listener deeply involved and compels that listener to make a personal decision about God’s truth in his or her life.
The text says that Jesus taught them His doctrine. Doctrine is anything that you believe, study, practice, and apply to your life. 3x
3 Hearken; Behold, there went out a sower to sow:
Here’s what I learned, I learned that the sower would have a bag of seed. And as the sower would walk along the roadside he would toss seed everywhere.
4 And it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up.
You reap what you sow and you reap in the manner of which you sowed.
Let me prove it, Jesus give us the answer is in verse 13-15
13 And he said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables? 14 The sower soweth the word. 15 And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.
It’s got people who heard the message and the devil satan the old dragon the serpent comes and snatches the word that was sown in their hearts. That’s why David said thy word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against God.You have to guard your heart. That’s why Paul said to put on the breastplate of righteousness to cover and protect your heart.
What kind Of Seeds Are You Sowing
The second group of people are found in these seeds look at
Mark 4: 5 And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of earth: 6 But when the sun was up, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away.
This second group is an interesting group because they resonate with many folk you already know Let’s look at Jesus’ answer in Mark 4:16 And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness; 17 And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word’s sake, immediately they are offended.
Listen to me You can’t offend me with the word of God because I’m not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ for it is the power unto all that call upon His Holy and Righteous name.. In other words you can’t make me doubt him because I know too much about Him. God’s been too good to me for me to be a traitor Judas or a denying Peter or a doubting Thomas or a negative Nathaniel. Come on man!!! Say it ain’t so.
Next is that third group in the Mark 4:7 And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit.
Jesus said the answer to this part of the parable is in verse
Mark 4:18 And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word, 19 And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.
The cares of this world can make us worry about stuff that we can’t take with us to heaven. I’ve never seen a U-Haul behind a casket. Listen all this stuff will be left behind when you die. Now not to say don’t pay your mortgage, that’s crazy! don’t pay your insurances, you’ll wish you did!! don’t buy a nice car, people don’t treat you good when you don’t have no car. don’t wear nice clothes, people really treat you bad then, don’t go to southern university football games and don’t go to the dome to see the saints… No No No I’m not saying that. But! if any of that stops you from being fruitful towards the Kingdom of God LET IT ALL GO!!!! NOTHING IN THIS WORLD IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN YOUR SOUL.
The bible say what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and then turn around and lose his own soul . !!! What shall he give in exchange for his soul!!!
I personally teach my children seek ye first the kingdom of God and all these things shall be added unto you. And that text is talking about your food your fitness your fashion your finances your faith and your future. GOD has everything you need so Don’t let the world take you down.
Tell your neighbor: Don’t let them get you down baby.
Then the last group
I call them The Philadelphia Group. Look at Mark 4:8 And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred. 9 And he said unto them, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. Jesus said here’s how the good group acts in Mark 4: 20 And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.
Some people are going to hear the Word of God and receive it. They are going to take in every word and then apply it to their individual lives. And when they do they will produce fruit. If it’s in the root it will be in the fruit.
If you don’t sow good seeds don’t be mad when weeds come up. My grandparents made go to church until I was grown. Every Sunday morning I better be in church. Sowing good seeds will make a difference later on in life.
