James 1:13–15
INTRODUCTION:
Sin always brings results, and these results are always evil, and never good. No sinner can escape the punishment of a holy and a righteous God. A holy God demands that sin be dealt with and punished. The following are a few results of sin.

I. IT CONSUMES BEAUTY: Psalm 39:11

1. Sin robs one of all beauty; it will rob one of a beautiful life, a beautiful character, a beautiful face and a beautiful home.

2. People who were once beautiful have become hard-looking, ugly, and loathsome because of sin.

II. IT CORRUPTED THE HEAVENS: Job 15:15

1. Sin has corrupted the heavens until they are not clean in the sight of God.

2. These very heavens, with this sinful world, will pass away because of sin. Matt. 24:35; 2 Peter 3:12–13.

III. IT LEADS TO DEATH “SPIRITUAL.” Ezekiel 18:4

1. Spiritual death means—the soul of man is separated from the life of God.

2. Every unsaved sinner is spiritually dead. Eph. 2:5

IV. IT LEADS TO DEATH “PHYSICAL”: Gen. 3:19

1. Sin is a killer, sin is a murderer.

2. Sin always brings death, and slays those who commit it. Rom. 5:12

3. The result of sin is a corpse, a casket, and a cemetery. Rom. 6:23

V. IT INVOLVES OTHERS. Gen. 3:7

1. The sin of Adam and Eve involved the whole human race; whom have you involved in your life of sin?

2. Our sins involve others, and cause others to go astray.

3. The sins of a sinner will involve the innocent, and bring to them shame and sorrow.

VI. IT YIELDS FRUIT. Gal. 6:7, 8

1. Sin always bears fruit.

2. No one can expect to live in sin, and sow seeds of sin and not have the fruit of sin.

3. The following will reveal to us some of sin’s fruit:

a. The fruit of their doings. Micah 7:13

b. The fruit of lies. Hosea 10:13

c. The fruit of the whirlwind. Hosea 8:7

VII. IT LEADS TO THE FIRE OF HELL. Matt. 25:41

1. Because of sin, the unsaved will suffer the fire of an eternal hell.

2. Sin damns the souls of men, and sends men and women to a Christless eternity Rev. 21:8
