Teaching on insecurities tonight, I would really like us to lean in for just a little bit and prepare a battle plan for how to really put Jesus over Everything.
I personally believe that insecurity is a breeding ground for a ton of brokenness and trauma if we aren’t careful. I also believe that we choose insecurity, that means coming to the point where we accept it as part of our life, is giving the enemy a foothold in our lives.
I’m not sure about you, but that’s not how I roll. I get a choice in regards to the resident of my heart.
So let’s talk about the battle plan to conquering insecurity.

6 Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
8 Finally brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable—if there is any moral excellence and if there is anything praiseworthy—dwell on these things. 9 Do what you have learned and received and heard from me, and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you.

I want to talk about the 2 major attacks that the enemy comes at us with and how to combat them.
Attack #1: Our Identity
Attack #1: Our Identity
If we sit down to think about the things that we are the most insecure about, what is at the root of it all: IDENTITY.
It makes me think of my state issued ID. About a year ago, I realized my Drivers License had expired and I was faced with 2 options; either get in my car, drive to the DMV, and wait a literal eternity to get a new ID. Or I could do it on online.
Well, I took to the world wide web to accomplish my task and I did. But when my ID came in, I couldn’t help but laugh.
The only information that had changed was my address and the expiration date. Other than that, it still had my 16 year old baby face self.
Literally if something happened to me and all they had to identify me with as may wallet, the would probably think I robbed a kid.
Don’t miss it: My identity looks like it should belong to someone else. It is doesn’t even resemble me.
Paul writes in verses 6 and 7 on what to do when we are having an identity crises and who we should turn to. Our IDENTITY should be rooted in Christ above everything else. When we know our God Given Identity, it should read:
Blessed
Chosen
Loved
Gifted
Favored
Purchased
Saved
Redeemed
Transformed
Justified
You get the picture right? You Kingdom identity your real identity!
So how do we fight insecurity when it come’s to identity?
We fight it like Jesus did, with scripture. The devil isn’t as sharp as we give him credit for. His attacks are calculated and if we can identify the pattern, we can solve the problem
Matthew 4 gives us a picture of the play book:
Satan plays on:
The desires of our flesh:
24 Only fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart. For consider what great things he has done for you.
The desires of our eyes:
37 Turn my eyes from looking at worthless things;
and give me life in your ways.
Tempts us with pride:
(set up your own kingdom)
17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.
Attack #2: Our Purpose
Attack #2: Our Purpose
Don’t get it twisted, your purpose is not people, power, or prominence; the purpose of your life is pursuit! Pursuing God and dwelling on the things of His heavenly kingdom and not this earthly one.
Verse 8 and 9 of Philippians 4 doesn’t tell us to dwell on on ridiculous thing, it tells us to dwell on righteous things.
8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. 9 What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
Would you believe that we waste our time on so many different things: Social media, netflix, sports, relationships. I am not saying that all of these things are bad, but just because sometimes it can be a good thing doesn’t mean that it’s a God thing.
I have spent so much time worrying about things I can’t control and how people view me.
Reminds me of the teenage boy that was stressing about not looking good enough for his homecoming dance. When his mom found out what was happening, she reassured him of how handsome he was, but he wasn’t having it.
She says fine, we are going to see you aunt who hasn’t seen you in 10 year, we’ll see what she thinks. Reluctantly, he went.
When she say the youngest brother she said, “Look at how handsome you have gotten, wow you are a cute kid!”
When she say the little sister, she said “Oh how beautiful you are, I bet you get all the boys attention”
Then she turns to the high schooler and pauses, “Wow, look how grown you are”
How do you battle an attack on your purpose? (Like Jesus did, with Scripture)
2 I cry out to God Most High,
to God who fulfills his purpose for me.
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
31 So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
11 In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will,
