“The rumor is true”
Dictionary.com defines A rumor is defined as un: rumour
a currently circulating story or report of uncertain or doubtful truth.
Many of us know matter how old we are. No matter how saved we are no matter how long we been saved no matter our position in the church and some point or another have come across a rumor.
We come across rumours on our job. Rumors in the community and sometimes rumors in the church(not this church)
You know how it is you can be on your job at your desk minding your own business and someone come out if no were with a rumor.
You can be sitting in your living room watching your favorite show and someone call on the phone with a romour.
You can be out to lunch and look at your phone and somebody have texted you or messaged you with a rumor.
We have all at some point or another came across a rumor. We can’t avoid them. People sometimes feel as though they need to tell you about of all people.
There’s two options you have with a rumor. You can believe it or you cannot believe it.
However I’ve learned that the best way to find our the truth to the rumor is to go to the source.
It’s the same with the word of God we have two options. Either we believe it or we don’t. However, the best way to find out the truth is to go to the source.
Luke was a source of truth n the word of God.
Luke presents in Luke 1:3 that the purpose of him writing this book is to give an orderly account of all that Jesus began to both teach and preach. He wrote the book to Theophilis, so that he may have historical evidence and truths of the teachings he receive. Although this book was written to one individual in its context. The gospel and its intent is to give to all believers the assurance that christianity is not one of many speculative systems searching for theological or ethical values, but that the gospel is a movement based on history and truth.
Luke traces in his two volumes acts and Luke portraying Jesus not just as a mere Jewish Messiah but as the savior of world.
Luke includes material in his book that are not found in the other gospels such as the parables of the lost sheep, coin and son. The story of Zachues, as well as the account of the pharisee and the sinful women.
Luke wanted to include all he could to ensure that the work and word of Jesus on record. I come to encourage you that no matter what anyone say. The gospel is not just some made up stories. However it’s based on on truth that our Savior was born in a manger, Lived, healed the sick raise the dead, gave sight to blinded eyes Died and rose on the third day.
I came to encourage believers to continue to have faith in the gospel. That Gods word is true and that we can trust him. No matter what the scientists discover, the gospel is true, no matter what we hear on cnn or msnbc, the gospel is true. Young people no matter what you face in the future, hold fast to the word you have heard preached here at , keep the word that you learned in Sunday school in your heart.Keep the faith.
In this particular text we find that
Luke 7 begins with Jesus healing a centurions servant because of this Centurions Faith.
After Healing this centurions servant we find now Jesus and his disciples approached a city called Nain and as he entered into the gate of the city. There was a funeral procession of a young man who was the only son of his mother who was a widow. Not only was it just a funeral but it was as we would call a big funeral. Because the Bible says that there were much people with her.
When Jesus saw this women he had compassion on here.
I believe he understood this woman condition, she was a widow, which means she had already lost here husband and now she had lost her son.
She was most likely at her ends wit. How many can testify that sometimes when you hit rock bottom it’s an opportunity for Jesus to bring you back up.
What others see as an opposition Jesus sees it as an opportunity.
Jesus tells the the women to weep not
In other words he explained to her don’t cry.
They must have thought what manner of man is this to show up at a funeral and tell the mother of the deceased to stop crying.
Well this was no ordinary man. However, he was the main who could change the situation in why she was crying.
he came and touched Bier-which was a plank that served as a coffin to carry the body of a deceased individual.
He spoke to the man- young man get up and the young man that was dead arose sat up and begin to speak.
In recognition of Gods powerful presence the people fear immediately led to their worship. Because the Bible said that they glorified God as a result of what they had seen.
Their was a rumor that was going around that Jesus was a great prophet which was true” not only was he a great prophet but he was the son of God and the son of man.
We have all found ourselves in situations that we have given up on and it seems as though we are about to bury them.
This text gives us an example of how Jesus was able to out life in a dead situation.
We find three specific things that occurred in the text
He was willing to have compassion-a feeling of deep sympathy and sorrow for another who have been stricken by misfortune. He ivkk s
Matthew 14:14
He moved with compassion when he healed the sick of the great multitude
He had compassion when he heard that Lazuris had died.
Because he wept when Lazarus died.
Hebrews 4:15
For we have not high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have on who have been tempted and way just as we are.
This lets me know that Jesus understands our weaknesses he was one who was tempted in everyway. He was one who was rejected at times so he knows how to empathize.
Is there anyone here that is glad that God is able to empathize and have compassion. There have been times when I needed God to come through in my life. When I was like this women dealing with a situation that seemed as thought it is done and I needed him to show me compassion.
He moves with compassion-
He had compassion to dry the widows eyes
~weeping may endure for a night but joy comets in the morning
He was willing to touch what others deemed as unclean.
In biblical references it was considered unclean to touch the dead
Although others deemed this situation as maybe unclean Jesus saw it as an opportunity.
Is there anyone in here glad that he was willing to touch you when others may have seen you as an OutKast.
Is there anybody in here glad that he is willing not just to touch those who are deemed appropriate by today’s church standards.
I’m talking to someone that can say I haven’t always been perfect. I have made some mistakes. However, I’m glad I serve a God that was willing to believe in me and not bury me~ our youth are going to make some mistakes~ don’t bury them but Bellini them.
Illustration: growing up in church came to Sunday school, Bible study every sundayIbwss there. It seemed like every Tom the church doors open we were in attendance. However, I thought I was grown wanted to make my own decisions and strayed but I’m glad the church didn’t throw me away
As the song says I was sinking deep in sin far from the peaceful shire very deeply stained within but the master of the sea heard my despairing cry from the waters lifted me.
As the older saints use to say he could reach way down out of the muck and murky clay and pull you out.
He was willing to give life to someone that everyone had given up on.
Luke gives us description of the young man being carried out of the City because they would not allow him to be buried within the cities gate. Everyone has given up from his mothers to all of his friend and family around him.
~However while he was being carried out ~Jesus was entering in
Those who counted you out call them and say it’s time for a recount.
What is that you have given up on and you are in the process of spiritually burying it.
Some of our youth have given up on the possibility of going to college.
I say it’s time for a recount
Some of us have counted out our family members being saved
I say it’s time for a recount
Some us have counted out our healing
I say it’s time for a recount
Some us have counted out our marriages I say it’s time for a recount
Some of us have counted out our youth and our children. I say it’s time for a recount.
Because once Jesus step in everything changes
He gives life to the lifeless
He give hope to the hopeless
He gives strength to the weak
Peace to the troubled
Look at somebody and say whatever you have given up on cancel the funeral, because with Jesus it can live.
He stepped in the situation and touched the casket and gave this young man life.
Jesus was willing to have compassion, He was willing to touch what seemed unclean and he was willing to give life to a situation that everybody had counted out.
Once he gave the young man life. The people begin to Glorify God and they begin to spread a rumor that there was a stranger in town gives sight to the blind raising the dead, healing the sick. They were making discussions about him as we do today.
The rumor is true when he was born in a manger
And king tried to kill all the young tried to kill all younger men. But Couldn’t kill Jesus.
The rumor is true that he healed the sick_
When he gave sight to blinded eyes-
The rumor is true that he was able to prove science wrong and go against the force of gravity and walk on water
accused and brought before Pilate who could not find any fault in him.
The rumor is true that he caried his cross
The rumor is true that they took him to a hill call Golgotha
The rumor is true that they hung him high
The rumor is true that they stretched him wide
The rumor is true that he looked up to the father and said father why have though forsaken me.
The rumor is true that he gave up the ghost and darkness covered the earth because even sun S.U.N had recognize the powerful ordered steps is son S.O.N.
The rumor is true that they took him to to grave sight.
The rumor is true that he stayed there one day.
The rumor is true that he stayed there two days.
The rumor is true that even the grave couldn’t cancel because early the third day Morning he got up with all power in his hand.....
We oftentimes read our word we hear what others have to say about Jesus but I want to inform you that the rumors of Christ is true, 2 things we could do with rumors We can believe it, or we can not. However the best way to get to the truth is to go the source.
If you really want to know the truth about Jesus.. try him for yourself.
He can do it for you!
