Divine Fellowship - God’s Plan for Our Life
1. God’s Action & Intention
a. We were created to have dominion over the earth in union with God (Genesis 1:26-28)
b. God used three methods of communication with man
1. Conversational (Genesis 1:28, 29; 2:15-17) God gave man freedom and responsibility which in turn incur consequences and result in character formation.
2. Direct (Genesis 2:15, 22; 3:8-10) as mankind made wrong choices God they became separate from Him, although some individuals were favored by God.
3. Intermittent (Genesis 5:22,24; 6:9) God’s relationship with them was dependent on their character in spite of every other circumstance
2. Human Reaction
a. Although some have chosen to interact with God, sin has caused others to turn away (Genesis 3:8-13; Romans 1:21)
b. Human self will causes massive insensitivity and resistance to God’s intention of fellowship and finally causes to fall headlong into evil. (Genesis 6:5-7; Romans 1:28-32)
3. Our Personal Response matters
a. Our lives find their direction when God is present with us, and we are directionless without Him. Intimate individual communication with God is something that cannot be done away with in spiritual formation. We must constantly seek out this individual communion. (fellowship with God)
b. When we commit our lives to Christ we enter into a marriage type covenant with God that requires our faithfulness to prosper.
4. Limits and Liabilities
a. When God is not with us as we saw in Romans our lives loose focus and are hearts are darkened. ( Romans 1:21,28)
b. Our heart can be hardened by self will and incapable of recognizing Gods attempts to correct us.
c. We can even grieve and resist the Spirit of God. (Ephesians 4:30; Romans 13:2)
5. Insights and Instructions
a. We were created by God to live in a relationship with Him and He does not give up or accept defeat (Romans 8:2-6)
b. God uses earthly institutions to mediate His presence because of our fallen nature to give us a point of reference. (Colossians 1:13-20)
c. We need to progress in our relationship with God as we grow up in the likeness of Jesus Christ. (2 Peter 3:17,18)
