One must be willing to rethink issues and expected outcomes in light of the surprising nature of the mashal. There are two paradoxical reasons given for the use of parables in Jesus’ teaching ministry:
(1) to communicate clearly spiritual truths to those who exercised faith in Him; and
(2) to hide spiritual truths from those who do not have faith in Him.
