Never say
“Good-Bye”
“I’ll See You Later!”
Hope of the hereafter
John 11:25 (ESV)
Jesus said... “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live,
Jesus said:
Revelation 1:18 (ESV)
… I have the keys of Death and the grave.
Jesus promises
this is not it
it doesn’t end here
Life is not fair
someday
Jesus will make it right
Glorious Bodies
1 Corinthians 15:51–53 ESV
Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality.
Now death hurts
death stings
seems to win
Passage Continues:
1 Corinthians 15:54–55 ESV
When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?”
Death does not win
At that moment
Sting of death forgotten
pain
separation
loss
grief
Made Right
Why Paul Says:
1 Thessalonians 4:13 ESV
But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope.
We have hope!!!
not it!
Exactly how it happens
1 Thessalonians 4:16–17 (ESV)
For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.
Final words in passage:
1 Thessalonians 4:18 (ESV)
Therefore comfort one another with these words.
Says:
read this at funeral
This is not it
(by God’s grace)
we will be
reunited.
At resurrection
Angels gather elect
Reunite families
Hug
Dance
Sing
Play
Raised in Heaven
Speaking of Heaven
Bible says:
Zechariah 8:5 ESV
And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in its streets.
Jesus loves Children
Matthew 19:14 ESV
but Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.”
Sitting on Jesus lap
Let’s be there together!
