James 4:7–10 NIV
7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

A New Attitude of Vulnerability with God and others brings us closer to Gods

James 5:16 KJV 1900
16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Confessing your sins and faults to God keeps you close to God because you are submitting to Him.

James 4:7 NIV
7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Submitting to God ensures deliverance from the devil.

1 Peter 5:8–9 NIV
8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9 Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.

A New Attitude of being close to God ensures God’s closeness to you.

James 4:8 NIV
8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

A New Attitude of truth can be in the heart and God will be close by with you.

1 John 1:8–9 KJV 1900
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

A New Attitude feels sorry about faults and sins done against God.

James 4:9 KJV 1900
9 Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.

Our New Attitude should be one of sorrow for disappointing God.

Psalm 51:10–12 KJV 1900
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; And renew a right spirit within me. 11 Cast me not away from thy presence; And take not thy holy spirit from me. 12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; And uphold me with thy free spirit.

A New Attitude of humbleness ensures God’s blessing.

James 4:10 KJV 1900
10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

God will Bless those that allow Him to be first in their lives
