Welcome...
Introduce self...
Pray...
Heavenly Father, please give me clarity in the words I speak.
Please fill us with the truth of your word and grant us
repentance where there is sin,
understanding where there is confusion, and
wisdom where there is foolishness.
Open our ears and our hearts,
Turn our affections towards you,
And make yourself our greatest joy and treasure.
In Jesus name, Amen.
Subtitle:
A road map to rest for your soul
In the chaos, difficulty, and pain of this world,
God wants you to find rest.
What ultimately creates chaos, difficulty, and pain?
Sin
It’s God’s strong hand that acts.
“I am the Lord.”
This appears 4 times in this text...
God stands and acts on his own two feet.
He does all that he pleases and acts on his own character.
He owes nothing to mankind yet extends relationship to them.

Either:
They did not fully know the revelation of Yahweh
Or
It is better translated “My name is Yahweh.
Did I not make myself known to them?”
“Remembered my covenant”
Remember means to act faithfully towards
Covenant… whenever you hear this word, I want you to think, “covenant is how God relates to man”
God condescends to us by grace, we respond to God by faith
“I am the Lord”
I will bring...
I will deliver...
I will redeem...
“Acts of judgement”
God is patient
God is gracious
God will exact perfect judgement
Three promises:
Deliverance from Egypt
Possession of the people as his own
The gift of the land
I will take...
I will be your God...
I will bring...
I will give...
“I am the Lord.”
But they did not listen...
This is why God is the actor in the covenant or redemption...
If Israel isn’t listening to Moses, why would he expect Pharaoh to listen??
But God gave the charge.
To bring the people of Israel out of the land of Egypt.
Is everyone in covenant with God?
No.
God has not entered into this type of relationship with everyone because of sin.
Sin is our rebellion against God.
This can be big...
This can be small...
How does a person enter into covenant with God?
Hebrews 9:22 says that “without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.”
That means because of sin, someone has to die...
It can be you, or it can be Jesus.
