St. Mark 11:23-24

Introduction

Man that is born of a woman is of a few days, and full of trouble. Trouble therefore belongs to the present state of man on the earth. Trouble is common to us all! It is truer still that prayer and trouble are often the closest of companions. For trouble leads men to prayer while prayer is the voice of men in trouble. Prayer will not only deliver us out of trouble, but will also give us strength to bear trouble, ministers comfort to us in trouble and teaches us patience while we are yet in the midst of trouble. The truth most understood here is that there is never a time to not pray, but especially not during times of trouble.

Sometimes Trouble Is Designed To Bring Me Closer To God.

It should not be that when trouble comes, the first inclination that you have is to remove yourself from the presence of God. The is one tactic by which the enemy has gained victory over a many Child of God.

  • When the issues are so pressing that you don't feel like there's any use even attempting to pray. But that is the best time to fall on your knees and talk to God.
  • Because even if He chooses not to move your thorn, prayer can pull an extra measure of grace, so that you can bear it.

My Prayer Is Based On His Promise

The Word declares in James that when we ask, it must be in faith, and even then, nothing wavering. For a man who wavers is like the waves of the sea. And that man should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.

  • But what is the basis for FAITH?
  1. Faith must be rooted in what God says.
  2. And if God has not promised it, then He is under no obligation to back it up.
  • And many people are mad and frustrated at God because they have been praying for things that God never said He would do.
  1. So the first step is to make sure that I have a basis to believe.
  2. Is this really His will for my life?

I'm Not Going To Hold It In, I'll Tell The Lord About It

Some of us have kept things locked up inside of us so long that it seems that we are about to explode. But God never intended for you to keep it bottled up. Tell God about it. He says Cast your cares upon the Lord, for He careth for you.

  • God wants to help you carry the load.
  • I'm not going

Before I Give Up, And Let The Devil Win, I'll Pray Again.

There's nothing that prayer can't do. And before I give myself over to my circumstances, I'll pray again.

  • The Scriptures even teach that when I pray, if I believe it, I can say to the mountain to be removed and cast into the sea. And it shall be done.
  • The impossible becomes the possible when you pray.
  • It may not look profitable, but when you pray, it moves from no hope to the power of God.
