! Ecclesiastes 2:1-11
!
Introduction
!
Verses 1-11 Talks Of The Pursuit Of Pleasure
Koheleth says that he witheld nothing from himself.
Every pleasure under the sun was his fancy.
* He tried the women and they did not fulfil his hunger
* He tried prosperity, and it didn't satisfy.
* He tried surrounding himself with so many people who spoke of his influence.
* But he found that it was useless in the end.
!
I Hated Life!
Why did he hate life?
Because he was looking for the wrong things in life.
He thought that there would be satisfaction in the things that effort could get him.
What he did not understand was that effort could get you things, but it could never get the fulfillment that was the ultimate goal of all of his conquests.
* And whenever you don't have the right motives and actions, life disappoints you and you end up hating and despising that which you thought would give you joy.
* This is the letdown of living life the wrong way..... that the things which you follow after the hardest are the things which let you down the hardest.
!
What Was The End Of His Labours?
He realized that for all of his worldly conquests, that he would die just like the fool.
* While he was attempting to make a name for himself, he failed to remember that he was only here for a short time.
* He wasn't even taking the time to enjoy the life that God gave him, because he was so busy trying to make a name.
* The problem was that he was going to die just like the fool, and in a few years people would have forgotten his name.
* And what was worse, all the things that he laboured so hard for, he would have to leave behind.
* And chances were, that a fool was going to inherit all that he laboured for.
* He could not control what happened when he died.
!
Only Pleasing God Can Add Quality To Life.
Only what you do for Christ will last!
* It's not in money
* It's not in prestige
* IT'S ALL ABOUT SERVING GOD AND LIVING TO PLEASE HIM!
