Reformation Sunday

Today churches are celebrating reformation in the church that happened in the 1500s.
Martin Luther saw the church and Rome still in deception together and it was oppressing people.
They took advantage of people by preaching hell and fire and if they paid the right price to the church and did the right acts they would ease their future suffering.
Reformation = A making straight, to straighten thoroughly
To make straight that what has gotten out of line.
Have you noticed the pattern of how people want you to get on board with who they want you to hate?
Humanity is infected with a virus far worse than COVID.
Humanity is infected with a spirit that influences people to hate and find common enemies.
You will know they are followers of Jesus by their love for one another.
John 13:35 NASB95
35 “By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
This infection that humanity has is causing us to be known by what or who we hate.
Example:
As a woman was leaving our church, she had the courage to be honest to me. She said I guess I started to believe you about hating religion and how the church is religious. I fell out of love with the church.
I thought, I dont want to be know for what I hate. I want to be known for who I love.
It was really easy to get people to hate religion with me.
It is way harder to get people to love Jesus and even harder to get people to love imperfect people with me.
We tend to people these people who have a common hate into a labeled group.
We first make people less human by labeling them then we can hate that group more.
Nazi party, tax collector, sinner, trump follower, biden follower, dem, rep, the church, muslim, religious.....
What is required?
God is wanting His children to be bold with Love and Truth.
Boldness
Bold Love
Example:
Confront hate in front of you.
Standing up for who people are.
Isaiah 61:1–3 NASB95
1 The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, Because the Lord has anointed me To bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to captives And freedom to prisoners; 2 To proclaim the favorable year of the Lord And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn, 3 To grant those who mourn in Zion, Giving them a garland instead of ashes, The oil of gladness instead of mourning, The mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting. So they will be called oaks of righteousness, The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.
Just like Jesus loving a prisoner of greed like Zacchaeus the tax collector.
They called him a tax collector and sinner. Two hate groups.
Jesus’s bold love opened the doors of Zacchaeus prison, and he found a way out of his own prison.
Closing:
The Church, The family of God, Jesus’s Bride, we are going through another reformation.
Jesus wants this reformation to be about what and who He loves.
He does not want the motivation of what we hate in this move of God.
Jesus wants this reformation to be about Bold Love!
Activation:
Say Isaiah 61:1-3 out loud.
What hate group do you need to give to Jesus?
Who in that group do you want me to love boldly?
Other Resources:
Isaiah 41:17–19 NASB95
17 “The afflicted and needy are seeking water, but there is none, And their tongue is parched with thirst; I, the Lord, will answer them Myself, As the God of Israel I will not forsake them. 18 “I will open rivers on the bare heights And springs in the midst of the valleys; I will make the wilderness a pool of water And the dry land fountains of water. 19 “I will put the cedar in the wilderness, The acacia and the myrtle and the olive tree; I will place the juniper in the desert Together with the box tree and the cypress,
Isaiah 43:18–19 NASB95
18 “Do not call to mind the former things, Or ponder things of the past. 19 “Behold, I will do something new, Now it will spring forth; Will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, Rivers in the desert.
reformation:
Hebrews 9:10 NASB95
10 since they relate only to food and drink and various washings, regulations for the body imposed until a time of reformation.
Hebrews 7:12 NASB95
12 For when the priesthood is changed, of necessity there takes place a change of law also.
