God (sovereign ruler) is our Father (abba).
His name is to be made holy.
We pray in allegiance to His kingdom agenda.
READ Matthew 6:9-10
The battle of the will.
“Your will be done” - Jesus prayed similar words as He faced arrest and crucifixion ( Matt. 26:39,42 )
“Will” (thelo) = wish, want
“What do you want?” (For Christmas, for dinner, from you spouse, elected official, your life, or from God Himself?)
In the kingdom of God, we can’t know what we want until we know what God wants.
“God will is what He wants — when, where, and how he wants it.” - Tony Evans
1. God’s Will is in His Purpose.
1. God’s Will is in His Purpose.
In Jesus Christ, God established His purpose for the world.
Revelation 7:9-12 and 19:11-16 (2nd coming)
When we pray for God’s will to be done, we are saying 2 things in one statement.
To be obedient to God’s purpose in the world.
A desire to see God’s purpose accomplished.
Fulfillment not only in Heaven but also on the earth.
“The right attitude is this: that I have my own will, yet I will the will of God.” - Watchmen Nee
2. God’s Will is meant to align with our will.
2. God’s Will is meant to align with our will.
(Galatians 2:20)
Ackowledge your own desires and crucifiy them so they can be replaced with God’s will.
Is there a desire in your heart you want more than God?
Our actions show it.
To want God’s will means that you’ll want His agendy to be done in earthly history.
To see His glory spread over all the earth is the disciples greatest concern. Even our own needs.
Every story in the Bible is about the glory of God. (Exodus, Fire from Heaven, Jesus, etc) Knowing Christ will teach you to look deeper into situations.
I become more in love with God’s plan and less in love with the world.
“Yes Lord, we wait for you in the path of your judgments. Our desire is for your name and renown.” (Isaiah 26:8)
