Something to Believe In

I. Everywhere I look I see people looking for something to believe in. Bouncing from church to church, and faith to faith.

II. Everyone is looking for something whether they know it or not.Someone once said that “The only things that are certain in life are death, and taxes”

III. Jesus taught Matt. 7:7-8

Body:

I. What are some things we should not seek

A. Money

1. The Pharos of Egypt would be buried with their treasure in the belief that they would take it with them but its still here in museums today

2. However Jesus taught Matt. 6:19-21

B. Pleasure

1. “ Eat, drink, and be merry” is still the theme in the world today.

2. We learn in Proverbs 21:17

C. Things seen.

1. 2 Cor. 4:18

2. Everything we see today will one day be gone

D. Our lives.

1. We all will die one day. Heb. 9:27

2. Death smiles at everyone all a man can do is smile back.

II. Things we should seek

A. Truth

1. Jesus told us in John 8:31-32

2. And again later in John 14:5-6

3. Jesus is the truth

B. Understand Christs sacrifice for us

1. Rom. 3:23-25

2. He was that propitiation or payment for our sin

C. If we believe in these words the natural conclusion is to seek the word of God.

1. Matt. 24:35

2. It is perfect 2 Tim. 3:16-17

D. And there we can learn of our Salvation

1. John 3:16

2. We only have it by obeying Acts 2:37-39

3. We must live faithfully unto death. Rev. 2:10.

I. What do you seek?

II. The things of earth or the things of heaven?

III. Will we be able to say what Paul said in 2 Tim. 4:6-8
