Hebrews 3:7–15 (NKJV)
7 Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: Today, if you will hear His voice,
8 Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, In the day of trial in the wilderness,
9 Where your fathers tested Me, tried Me, And saw My works forty years.
10 Therefore I was angry with that generation, And said, ‘They always go astray in their heart, And they have not known My ways.’
11 So I swore in My wrath, ‘They shall not enter My rest.’ ”
12 Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God;
13 but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
14 For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end,
15 while it is said: “Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.”
When the Spirit speaks, it is always speaks to Today.
The Spirit does not want us to focus on tommorow nor yesterday but Today.
What is it about the day that is called Today that is so important. Why not Tommorow.
We can miss what God is saying for Today because we are distructed by what might happen tommorow and imprissoned by what may happened yesterday.
We need to understand that, we do not know what happens tommorow, nor can we change what happens yesterday. We are not in control of tommorow nor yesterday. We are in control of what happens today, we can act Today, we can respond to God today, we can change for God Today

How our attitude towards Tommorow affects our attitude towards today.

James 4:13–16 (NKJV)
13 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”;
14 whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.
15 Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.
16 But now you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil.
You do not know what is going to happen tommorrow because you are not control of tommorow. Tommorow is not yours, it is not garaunteed that you will see tommorow.
You need to realise that your life is not your own, God is the one in control of your life. He is the one giving you permission to breath and live each day.
You are not in control of what might happen tommorow, you are only in control.
So when you make plans, do it with the knowledge and understanding that you may not live to perform those plans, or it might not go the way you expected it. Because God is the one that is in control.
More importantly though, The things of the Spirit are not to be postponeded to tommorow, you do not know whether you will have tommorrow or not. Therefore, you must act upon what God is speaking Today.
2 Corinthians 6:1–2 NKJV
1 We then, as workers together with Him also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain. 2 For He says: In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you. Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.
Today is the acceptable time, now is the day of salvation.
Do not postponed what you need to do today because tommorow is not promised.
You can put of allot of things for tommorow, but you can not put of the things of the spirit for tommorow because it is of eternal consequence.
If you miss today, to get right with God, to repent, be baptised, to do his will. Tommorrow it will be to late. Now is the acceptable time.
Isaiah 55:6–7 NKJV
6 Seek the Lord while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near. 7 Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the Lord, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon.
Today is the day you will be able to find God, Today is the day that God is near.
Tommorow you may never find God, he might not be near. it might be to let.
Example of The people of Israel
Zechariah 7:7–14 NKJV
7 Should you not have obeyed the words which the Lord proclaimed through the former prophets when Jerusalem and the cities around it were inhabited and prosperous, and the South and the Lowland were inhabited?’ ” 8 Then the word of the Lord came to Zechariah, saying, 9 “Thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘Execute true justice, Show mercy and compassion Everyone to his brother. 10 Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, The alien or the poor. Let none of you plan evil in his heart Against his brother.’ 11 But they refused to heed, shrugged their shoulders, and stopped their ears so that they could not hear. 12 Yes, they made their hearts like flint, refusing to hear the law and the words which the Lord of hosts had sent by His Spirit through the former prophets. Thus great wrath came from the Lord of hosts. 13 Therefore it happened, that just as He proclaimed and they would not hear, so they called out and I would not listen,” says the Lord of hosts. 14 “But I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations which they had not known. Thus the land became desolate after them, so that no one passed through or returned; for they made the pleasant land desolate.”
God sent the prophet to speak to people early, saying Today if you will hear his voice, turn from your evil ways< god is merciful. However, they despised his word, they said we will obey it tommorow but now we will do what we wan’t to do. Tommorow came but it was to late,
A Lot of people have the audacity to demand God to listen to them , in time of their tragety having ignored him all their lives.
Today God is speaking to you, to amend your ways, to obey God, to be baptised if you have not be baptised.
Example of the the pastor and the two men, the one who lost his life in the war and never got the chance to repent
Matthew 6:25–33 NKJV
25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? 28 “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; 29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
A lot of people neglet the things of God, the Kingdom of God because they are worried about tommorow
The devil to keep us from responding to the voice of the Spirit of God, he will make you focus on the challenges of tommorrow.
We tend to be contrained to even give to God because we are worried about the tommorow.

The wrong attitude about Tommorow

1 Corinthians 15:32 NKJV
32 If, in the manner of men, I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what advantage is it to me? If the dead do not rise, “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!”
Paul was dealing with people who did not believe that there was life after death, the ressurection from the dead.”
so their view of the future “tommorow” was only death and that it. This view was affecting their attitudes and priorities fro today.
There are people living their life as if there is only death and that is it and hence enjoy the pleasure of today, eat and drink, enjoy life.
Heb 9:27 “27 And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment,”
2 Corinthians 5:9–10 NKJV
9 Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him. 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.
Our aim for today is directly influence by what we believe about tommorow. By our view of the future.
2 Peter 3:10–14 NKJV
10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. 11 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. 14 Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless;
Our conduct for today is directly influence by what we belive of the future.
John 3:1–3 NKJV
1 There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. 2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.” 3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
Ecclesiastes 7:10 NKJV
10 Do not say, “Why were the former days better than these?” For you do not inquire wisely concerning this.
Becareful that you do not Judge today based on the experiences of Yesterday. Today stands by itslef.
You see yesterday can keep you from responding to the voice of the spirit in today
Luke 5:4–6 NKJV
4 When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” 5 But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.” 6 And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking.
If God is speaks today ignoring what has happened yesterday.
Judges 6:12–15 (NKJV)
12 And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him, and said to him, “The Lord is with you, you mighty man of valor!”
13 Gideon said to Him, “O my lord, if the Lord is with us, why then has all this happened to us? And where are all His miracles which our fathers told us about, saying, ‘Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the Lord has forsaken us and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.”
14 Then the Lord turned to him and said, “Go in this might of yours, and you shall save Israel from the hand of the Midianites. Have I not sent you?”
15 So he said to Him, “O my Lord, how can I save Israel? Indeed my clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house.”
God told him that He was with him today.
He did not beleive God was with him today, because yesterday he had felt that God has forsaken him. He did not believe God, because he was so focused on what he had experienced in the past.
God did not respond to his comment about Yesterday, because he wanted him to focus on today.
When God speaks to us today let us not be imprisoned by our past experiences so as to miss God. So as to neglect what the spirit is saying Today.
Example of The Apostle Paul
Acts 9:26 NKJV
26 And when Saul had come to Jerusalem, he tried to join the disciples; but they were all afraid of him, and did not believe that he was a disciple.
Sometime we can judge the things of Today based on our experiences of Yesterday and miss God.
JOhn 7:24 “24 Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.””
Imprisoned by the past
Some peoples view of today is influence by their experience of the past.
Some carry guilt, some carry bitterness, ressentment of the past and this is directly influencing their judgment and conduct of Today.
Conclusion
Today if you will hear his voice.
What is it that you have to do today.
What commitment have you made to God that you have been postponing to Tommorrow.
Today is the day of salvation, now is the acceptable time.
