John 15:26–27 CSB
26 “When the Counselor comes, the one I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father—he will testify about me. 27 You also will testify, because you have been with me from the beginning.
John 15:26–27 (LBLA)

Introduction

We have learned about the role, the ministry and the Person of the Holy Spirit!
He is divine, He is God, the Third Person of the Trinity!
If we want to walk like Jesus…speak like Jesus…minister (serve) like Jesus…etc. we need the active, indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit!
We learned at the moment of us receiving the Messiah as Lord:
Confessing He is Lord.
Believing in the heart that He has risen from the dead.
Invoking the Name of the Lord!
We shall be saved!!!
We learned in the Bible, at that moment, we are baptized into the body of Christ by the Holy Spirit.
1 Corinthians 12:13 CSB
13 For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and we were all given one Spirit to drink.
1 Corinthians 12:13 LBLA

Throughout this month we have learned why we were given the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit was given to us as a gift from God the Father! Acts 2:38-39
Acts 2:38–39 CSB
38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is for you and for your children, and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”
Acts 2:38–39 LBLA
He is our Comforter - called to our side to help! John 14:26
John 14:26 CSB
26 But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and remind you of everything I have told you.
John 14:26 LBLA
He is our Guide - leading us to truth! John 16:13
John 16:13 CSB
13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth. For he will not speak on his own, but he will speak whatever he hears. He will also declare to you what is to come.
John 16:13 LBLA
He speaks to us - revealing the heart of the Lord. John 16:13.
He informs us - proclaiming to us what is to come. John 16:14
John 16:14 CSB
14 He will glorify me, because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you.
John 16:14 LBLA
Today, I want to talk to you about how we ought to ask the Holy Spirit to

“Share Me!”

Ask your neighbor:
“Are you willing to be used by God?”
I’ve noticed on FB, if you want your friends to see an important post that you read, or view a live production you are watching or are attending…you need to share!
When you think about something so simple, it’s actually something so profound, because in order for someone else to receive what we are receiving...
In order for someone to watch what we are watching...
We need to share!
Share means a part or portion of a larger amount which is divided among a number of people, or to which a number of people contribute.
To share means to give a portion of (something) to another or others

There are reasons why we ought to share.

I want to talk about how:

Sharing is in act of care-ing.

We are using the word “share” as a modern way to understand the text, but the biblical word used to capture this concept is “testify”.
John 15:27 the word “testify” also means “bear witness” - it’s present tense and it may be taken as an imperative “bear ye witness.”
Haven’t we all heard that phrase before?
But, how true is it?
When we learn to share it’s an act of caring.
Sharing is the destruction of selfishness and the building up of selflessness.
Imagine if God chose not to share His Son!?

Sharing is an invitation.

Sharing is an invitation to spread the Gospel!
Romans 10:14–15 CSB
14 How, then, can they call on him they have not believed in? And how can they believe without hearing about him? And how can they hear without a preacher? 15 And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news.
Romans 10:14–15 LBLA
Sharing is an invitation to demonstrate love!
Sharing is going to require you:
getting out of your comfort zone and willing to be sent!
allowing yourself to be led - being a follower!
preaching with your life how you received what you are wanting to share!
We ought to share because:

Sharing is our duty!

Think about what Jesus said to His disciples...doesn’t that resonate with us today? When He talks about that they will bear witness…
We have not been given His Spirit so we can keep it to ourselves.
We have not been given His Spirit so we can hide in some room and never proclaim or declare the goodness of Jesus.
We have, as an imperative (vitally important, command) to bear witness, to testify of the goodness of the Lord as His disciples!
When we go back to what Jesus was saying to His disciples, we can see how He was preparing them because, they were going to go through persecution as He Himself was about to face.
But, He promised them that He would given them the Spirit that proceeds from the Father!
He was preparing them how persecution would highlight the hope that is within them!
One of the reasons why we ought to ask the Spirit to Share us is that:

Jesus shared with us His Spirit because He cares for us!

He shared with us His Spirit!
Jesus Himself is the best example we can follow.
If there is a standard and example the Lord set for us, how much more will the enemy find ways so you don’t live up to it!?
What are things that may want to stop us from bearing witness?
Pride
Selfishness
Distractions
Self-interest
Lack of empathy
at the root of all this is sin
“Are you willing to be used by God?”
Are you willing to share?
