The Christian Life

I. Confession is Possession!
“All who proclaim that Jesus is the Son of God have God living in them, and they live in God.” ( I John4:15)
This is only the beginning of your walk with God.
“Confession is Possession” is something you realize more as you walk with God.
You can’t possess even something spiritual without reminding yourself about it over and over again.
I have confessed that Jesus is my Lord but there’s more. We have to believe it in our heart.
I confessed early on in my walk with God many of the precious promises from God and His Word but today they are so much more precious than they were back in the beginning days.
II. Obey God!
I Jn. 2 3-5.
A. You have obeyed God’s Command to “ Ye Must Be Born Again.”
1. But now you there are many other commands to obey.
2. Our walk with God is daily so don’t get overwhelmed with so many commands.
3. God will lead you daily as to what you should do.
4. Remember that when you realize who you are “In Christ”
then you will understand what you should be doing.
5. Just follow God one day at a time.
1500 Illustrations for Biblical Preaching (Christian Life, Spirit’s Role In)
Christian Life, Spirit’s Role inThere are three ways in which a skier can get to the top of the ski slope. He can try to walk up on his own, or be pulled up as he holds on to a strap, or he can ride up in the chair lift. This illustration vividly depicts the various ways Christians try to live the victorious Christian life. Some try completely in their own strength; others try to combine their own effort with some degree of dependence on God. But the only way to know true victory in every situation is total dependence on the Holy Spirit.155
III. Develop a Love for God’s Word
I Jn. 2:5

A young believer was discouraged in his attempts to read and remember the Bible. He said, “It’s no use. No matter how much I read, I always forget what I have just read.”

A wise pastor replied “Take heart. When you pour water over a sieve, no matter how much you pour, you don’t collect much. But at least you end up with a clean sieve.”57

Some seem to expect the Word of God to hit them like a jolt of adrenaline each time they read or study it. Although the “jolt” may hit us periodically, the benefits of the Word of God act more like vitamins. People who regularly take vitamins do so because of their long-term benefits, not because every time they swallow one of the pills, they feel new strength surging through their bodies. They have developed a habit of consistently taking vitamins because they have been told that, in the long haul, vitamin supplements are going to have a beneficial effect on their physical health, resistance to disease, and general well-being.

The same is true of reading the Bible. At times it will have a sudden and intense impact on us. However, the real value lies in the cumulative effects that long-term exposure to God’s Word will bring to our lives.58

Conclusion: The Christian Life is such an incredible life to live. We can and do possess what we confess or in other words, what we say. It’s not a magical thing and certainly God is still and will always be sovereign. We, as Christians, become a lot alike the things we allow in our life: the words we say, the places we go, the songs that we sing, etc. So, down through our Christian Journey, we need to develop a love and intense desire for God’s Word. Remember this is only the beginning of the Christian Life.
