Introduction:
1. As we continue to answer the question--How do we build faith?
A. We need to remember...
17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
1. Tonight we are going to look at one more way we begin to build faith Hebrews 11.
A. Faith comes by understanding the worlds were framed by the word of God—Heb. 11:3.
Body:
1. Faith comes by understanding the worlds were framed by the word of God.
3 By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.
A. In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth—Gen. 1:1.
1. It was by His word that He spoke them into existence.
3 Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.
6 Then God said, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.”
9 Then God said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear”; and it was so.
11 Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth”; and it was so.
14 Then God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years;
20 Then God said, “Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the face of the firmament of the heavens.”
24 Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, each according to its kind”; and it was so.
26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
2. It was through Christ that the Father made the World.
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.
3. Part of the faith we have in Chris is that He is the God who made the world.
8 To me, who am less than the least of all the saints, this grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, 9 and to make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ; 10 to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places, 11 according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord, 12 in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him.
4. Just as God spoke the world into existence He spoke to us through His Son.
1 God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;
A. And it is through the power of His word that he upholds all things.
3 who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,
Conclusion:
1. Just as God spoke the world into existence with the power of His word, He also upholds the spiritual world with the power of His word.
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.
12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
A. So the question is—do we truly have faith that He framed the world and upholds it by the power of His Word?
1. If we do then we truly understand that He is God.
