What Are Angels?

Routine is not going. So hopefully that, you know, when The Cove is over, things can get back, you know, again to normal, but until then, you know, as long as we do, what the Lord has called us to do, as long as I preach the word, the way that he's called me to preach. I think we going to be okay. Will be fine. So I'm on. That's exactly right zactly, right? Yes, are you go right ahead?

Right. Okay. Yeah. Right. I know, I know that and I appreciate that. I appreciate that so much. And and I know Lewis and Richard appreciate me preaching a series on them Angels nothing. That's exactly right. So. Are you going to do the slides right now? Okay. Well, thank you so much. I appreciate it. So yeah, I appreciate everything that you've done for us and, you know, you've made me feel welcome. I've been here about 3 years now. I think, I think I started in September of October about 3 years ago. So if you'll continue to have me, I'll continue to come, you know, and and freezing also, but I do, I do appreciate it. And and I just thank the Lord for you. And I love all of you in the Lord. I hope you know that. So, alright. Well, we today we going to continue on Angels. Now, let me get situated here before we get started. And I do appreciate the meal that's coming up afterwards as well. Now. I appreciate that. I appreciate the mail that I'm going to eat out here and I'll probably take home to okay. Okay, let me get this situated here. And okay. All right, so Angels Messengers from God. That is our

That is our series that we are doing. And today, what I want to talk about is what are angels. You know, they and their kind of some strange characters. Sometimes they can be in the Bible. So today, what I want us to look at its what are angels. I want to talk about the creation of angels, how they were created, who created them, when they were created, what they're made of And I want to give you some characteristics of, and can't we find in the Bible. Now, if you remember last week, I got last week's outline here. We talked about angel in the Bible and how they're involved in our world today and how they're involved in our lives. They protect us and guide us and encourage us, and Deliver Us and Empower us, we said. And so today I want to look at a little more closer about how Angels actually came about. And I want to start with the story today that some of you have probably heard of Corrie Ten, Boom. I want to see Asian. On several occasions, she has written. She had written about the intervention of Angels in her life. And one such story was the experience that she and her sister Betsy experienced. When? Let me go ahead and record here. Okay, her and her sister Betsy experience. Something in a concentration camp were arrested for Sheltering. Jews in Nazi Germany, back in World War II, and it was very cold in these two sisters had already spent 2 nights outside and they were waiting in line after they had been arrested in to what they called an administration building. And they're the Nazis were taking all of the possessions that you had all the new arrivals if you would include in their clothes and and they would only give them like a little thin undershirt and a dress and a pair of wood and Cory was worried that her sister Betsy, you know, what, die because she was just so frail, so when they got to the building quarry, She told her sister Betsy. She said, you take off your underwear and everything. You have Underneath Your Clothes. She said, you give them to me and Corey roll them up and took her own as well, and roll from her dressed. Now, they were walking through the line. They were being checked and Corey said that as she was standing there. She said, my dress was protruding out. She said, because I had socks. I had underwear everything that we had. She said we needed to keep that. And she said, so I put it under my dress. She said, but my dress, she said it was just protruding out. You can tell that I had something and she said they were checking us and she said, I prayed at that moment. She said, Lord pretty please. Let your angels around me now and let me get through this line. Is she said, she went through the line or sister Betsy was behind her. And she said the lady in front of her had a woollen dress or something, under her cloak and said they found it and took it from her and beat her. And she said I was next and she said there, I stood, you know, dress protruding out and she said, both guards looked as if they were just looking right by me and she said they went straight to my sister Betsy, and she said I walked through without getting checked. She said, but that wasn't the end of it. She said because at the end they had two other ladies out there looking and feeling everybody. And she said, when I got to them, she said they to look directly through me in like they didn't even see me and went to my sister Betsy. And she said, she knew Lord that he answered her prayer about sending angels to help. And she said, I could even face the concentration camps unafraid. Once that I saw what the Lord did for me. Well, angels are real in our world. Now most of us we can't see him and probably most of us don't even know the times that God has dispatched them to help us but they are real. So what I want to do today is I want to talk about what our angels and remember I think the next frame inition of angels. Not remember I gave you this last week. The definition angels are intelligent moral and Spiritual Beings of angels. And that is the first point today, the creation for plainly states that the Lord created the angel. So the debate is not really about the origin of the Angels. But the debate is about when were they created? Now, I'm going to show you some scriptures today, and we're going to start out with Joe 38 and verse 7, Joad, 38 and verse 7. I should be the next frame. All right. This is what the Bible says, when the morning Stars sang together. And all the sons of God shouted for Glory. Now, the morning Stars mentioned here by Scholars are almost universally understood as the angels of God. They can't refer to actual stars because the stars were not created until the fourth day, the heavens and all the stars. So we definitely know where it says. They are the sons of God shouted for joy. We definitely know that the sons of God is a name and a reference to Angels, the sons of God. And in the first chapter of Jobe. Remember when Satan came to accuse job, it says he showed up at the Throne of God with the sons of God, will Satan was an angel as well. So they were other Angels there with Satan and then When you look it says the reference to the foundations of the earth, we know that the Cornerstone of whatever is a reference to win. The Earth was created and I'm going to show you another verse here. Psalm 104 verse 4 and 5. So I'm 104 verse 4 and 5. And look what the Bible says who makes his angels Spirits, his ministers, a flame of fire and then the next verse.

You who laid the foundations of the earth so that it should not be moved forever. So here we see. He said he makes his angels Spirits as men. Are you who laid the foundations? According to this record here in Psalm 104 the exact act after creation after the creation of light and space was God. Created the angels as as angel of spirits and Ministers of fire and then in verse five, it says speaks of God laying the foundation of the Earth right after he made the angels in verse for. So God created the Angels, but how did he create them? What what's the substance of angels? What is, well, the Samus gives us the order here. But he also says that they are spirits. Know. What does that mean that the angels are spirits? Well. They can't be seen. There there in within the spiritual world and he says they are a flame of fire when I we don't know the exact nature of angels, man. We know that we are we made up of chemical elements subject to electromagnetic and gravitational forces, but angels are not bound. Like we are when you look in the Bible, they can just fly swiftly as soon as God tells him to go somewhere and fly and get there. And so the angel associated with stars saw, when the other verse well, the star they're just kind of bright flaming, lay art, in many cases are. So she ate in the Bible with the fire. We see that there's substance their, their spiritual being. This almost the Bible, almost teach like a flaming fire. Let's talk about when they were created and I want to say this. All Angels were created simultaneously. They were all created at the same night time there Fulmer was created in the beginning and there has not been any increase in their ranks since then. So all Angels were created at the Glide human beings. We are conceived and born at different times in history. All that were created at a second at a at a single moment. Matthew 22:37 has Angels do not marry. They do not procreate. So Angels don't have a family tree. You ever got all these websites and you kind of trace your family tree. I've done that. I went to my mother of my family and I trace that side of the family all the way down to it was like 1434. There was a high Sheriff, somewhere in England. He was, I forget his name Edward, something High, Sheriff of certain some type of County or something in England. I traced her side of the family all the way to 1450 something in England. Angels can't do that. They were created just like that all at one time. So the first point is the creation of angels, their substance, their Spiritual Beings and they were all crowded at the same titles. Do not, marry, do not create. They don't have procreate, they do not have brothers and sisters. They were all created at the same time and they don't age as well. We'll talk more about that in a minute. So let's talk about the characteristics and this is the next point. Point number two. The characteristics of angels. And I look, I've got five listed there for you. Let's go through each of those and we talked about the first one a little bit. Last week, angels are innumerable. Let me say this. God created angels. I'm probably the third day of creation after he did light and things before the foundation of the Earth. There are a number of angels. There's a specific number of them. But because it immense to us to human being is innumerable. Remember what John said, in Revelation 5 pesetas, all Angels, 10000 * 10000 * thousands and thousands. There's a certain number, but for us, they are innumerable. Look, what Hebrews 12 22, says Hebrews 12 22.

He says, but you have come to Mount, Zion to the city of the Living. God, the heavenly Jerusalem to innumerable company of angels innumerable. So there's, they are just innumerable to us. Well, there's something there's something else about angels. Let me say this and we can talk more about this now. They're invisible. Most of the time they're invisible. You say, what do you mean? Well, most of us are oblivious to the activity of angels, because there's no telling how many times angels have intervened on our behalf and we wouldn't even aware of it. Now, someone questioning that and said something to Billy Graham. I wrote down his response. This is what he said. He says, while Angels made become visible by choice. Our eyes are not constructed to see them ordinarily. Any more than we can see the dimensions of a nuclear field, the structure of atoms or the electricity that flows through copper wiring. We know that our house is on the lights are on but we can't see the electricity actually flowing through the copper wire. He said with it is with angels generally and I'm going to say this generally angels are invisible. But not always. Some angels appear in human form you. So how do they do that their Spiritual Beings? What God can do, what he wants to do and he can make Angels appear in human form, in Genesis 18, and 19 Angels appear to men as men to Abraham and lot and if you read the story you'll see that they ate. They took a bath they walked they held hands. They took physical form, but they were angels. Look what the writer of Hebrew said Hebrews 13 verse to the next burst here. Look what the writer of Hebrews says. Do not forget to entertain strangers for by. So doing some, have unwittingly entertained, angels. So when you meet a stranger, you better in it, you better entertain them will cause you never know. You may be entertaining an angel. That's what the buyout ought to tell us that sometimes angels can appear in human form. Let me give you two examples of when they did appear in human form to dramatic stories in the Bible, both in the Old Testament Numbers 22. I don't know if you remember this story, but Bay, like, hired the prophet Balaam to curse Israel. So balax Nation would not be destroyed. So while Balaam was on his way to Moab with balax men, balaam's donkey saw an angel. The donkey saw an angel and just stop right there in the road and he will start whipping. Go go go. And you wouldn't and he didn't know why he had stopped. Well then. Look what number is 2231 South. Then the Lord open eyes, and he saw the angel of the Lord standing in the way of with his drawn sword, in his hand and he bowed his head and fell flat. Only space, all the sudden the Lord allow Balaam to see. And he saw the angel with a drawn sword. See the donkey. Saw him first Balaam, couldn't see him, but then Balin was able. So God gave the donkey and Balaam and no one else the ability to see the angels in other words, God open their eyes, but there's another more dramatic example in this took place. In Second Kings. Now, Syria was it war? And remember the Prophet Elijah and they decided they were going to capture, go to license Hometown and capture him and they sent Syria sent their armies to Elijah's Hometown. Well, Elijah servant, saw all the armies surrounding the city. And he ran to Elijah just scared to death. He said we are doomed. He said they've got thousand surrounding us. We will never get out of this 2nd Kings 6:16 and 17. Look what Elijah said. So he answered, to his server. Do not fear for those who are with us, are more than those who are with them. What do you think that server is me? And you those who are with us? There's thousand circle around. Look what Elijah did. Elijah prayed and said, Lord, I pray open his eyes that he may see. Then the Lord Open the Eyes of the young man and he saw and behold the mountain was full of horses and Chariots of Fire all around Elijah. You see, he couldn't see it. But Elijah could see it. It was the angels of God protected all the cervix and said he was the enemy. That's all he can see. Remember last week. I told you story about the missionary in Africa and they were going to burn down and kill, he and his wife, and they looked out the window. And I saw all these Warriors coming and they just drop down the knees and praise and all the sudden they wake up the next morning, light coming in and six months later, won the Warriors or save the commanding Warrior and he said, why didn't you attack us? He said because of all those men and shine and garments with drawn swords around your place. She said nobody there. Me and the wife. He said, we saw more than that. You see that's God. Sending his angels. So yes, Angels Are Spiritual Beings angels are most of the time invisible but not always, not always. Number number 3, or letter c. Angels are in vincible now. I think I told you last week about how art in from the 17 18 19 century paintings of angels and how they kind of construed. The way people thought of angels. Someone were kind of chubby and a lot of times, if you look at Art, back in the eighteenth Century, you would see pictures of nude Angels. The Angels were nude and then they made them kind of soft and kind of girlish, and kind of kind of curly, blonde, hair and blue eyes. You see, pictures like that. But in scripture every time, an angel shows up, you know, what, one of the first things they say, fear not So why would you be afraid of a little girlish? Chubby soft floating little angel? Why would you be afraid? Because that's not what they look like. Don't allow the art and the pictures of this way, you in Revelation Book of Revelation says strong, Angel and mighty angels are used matter fact, the word Gabriel. Remember the two named Angels. Gabriel Michael Gabriel, that word means mighty one of God, a mighty one in the New Testament. The angels are listed as having power. The word for power in. The Greek is dunamis, which we get our word Dynamite. So all of a sudden we start getting a different picture, David describes them as those who excel in strength. Look at what 2nd Peter 2:11 says about them, whereas Angels who are greater in power and might he says their greater in power and in Mike and Daniel said he was delivered from the Lion's Den by the angels of God and in the book of 2nd Kings 1 angel in one night, destroyed a hundred eighty-five thousand Warriors from the Syrian Army. In one night an angel did this and in Matthew Who wrote that big heavy Stone off of the Grave? An angel did. It was a little chubby blonde hair, blue-eyed. I doubt it. That's not right? And then in Revelation, who is it? That holds the Four Winds of the heaven and discharges God's Wrath on the earth. It is Angels. That's the picture angels are invincible. Let me give you a Angel's are immortal. You say they don't die. They don't and they don't get old. Look what Loop 2036? S Loop 2036 North. Can they die anymore? For they are equal to the angels and our sons of God, being sons of the Resurrection, because Angels do not have physical bodies. They don't know anything, what it means to get sick to get ill to grow old. To have a heart or lung transplant. To break a right ankle. Nothing about that. They know nothing about their body. Growing old decaying and eventually dying. They know nothing about the limitations that we have because we have physical bodies because God created them as non-physical beings. In Daniel 9, the angel Gabriel appeared to Daniel. The Bible says Gabriel appeared to Daniel and then six hundred years later. The same Gabriel appeared to Zacharia. The father of John, the Baptist six hundred years later and I guarantee he hadn't aged. I guarantee he didn't have gray hair. He was an angel who appeared 600 years apart, angels are Immortal. And then, lastly, let me say this and will close. Angels are intrigued. Buy salvation. You say, what do you mean by that? Because the Bible tells us that the angels are aware. Every time a person gets saved. You say. Where is that at? Look at it and Luke 1510. In the same way. I tell you there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner. Who repents? You see Angels rejoice. When someone comes to the Lord, and they glorify God because he has saved them, but they can't do one thing Angels cannot testify personally. To have and receive salvation. Because they're not saying they can't receive salvation because they're Spiritual Beings. The only point to the expense of the redeemed, they can only point to those people who can be redeemed, which are human beings. And then they Rejoice over that, that means that throughout eternity. We humans are alone, are the only ones who can give a personal witness to the grace of God that we have received through faith in Christ. We are the only ones angels look at that and they are in simply Amazed by that fact. So amazed that there's joy in Heaven from the Angels every time a person repent, angels, as great as they are, cannot testify to Salvation the same way as those of us who have received it. So that is who angels are what they are the creation of angels God. Did it probably on the third day, their Spiritual Beings. He created them all simultaneously, their innumerable. They're invisible. Most of the time they're Invincible. They're strong. They're Mighty. They are Immortal. They do not die. And they're intrigued by our Salvation. We're going to find out more about angels next week because we don't talk about Gabriel and Michael and the seraphim and the cherubim, and all the other angels, and we going to see what they are actually like that, the Bible teaches. Amen. Let's pray. Father. We do. Thank you and Praise You. Lord. And love you today. Lord, that we can take your word. Lord that we can find out about such subjects as this is Angels, Lord, they play such a big part in the Bible, and in your own Ministry on Earth, in Creation, in the Ascension. In the resurrection, of Our Lord, help us to understand, help us, to be good, interpreters of your word and Lord help us to understand also lowered that although they're invisible and although they probably helped us in many times in our lives, when we didn't even realize it Lord help us be good and kind to everyone because we've never know when we may be in the presence of angels Norwegian.
