The name is a prophetic name, showing his power and omniscience over the events of the world.

He Is Eternal

In Rev 1:8 “8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”” The name emphasizes His eternal nature.
Rev. 22:13 “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.”

The name first appears in the OT. Isaiah 41:2-4 emphasizes His rule over the affairs of men in guiding His people.
Isaiah 44:6-7; 48:12 emphasizes His uniqueness as God and His command of the future.
The name means that he is creator (John 1:3), the sustainer in the present (Col 1:16), and the judge in the future (Rev. 21:5-8 .

He is the Completer of our Faith
