Matthew 24:36–39 ESV

36 “But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only. 37 For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. 38 For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, 39 and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.

Exalt in | The wonder of this truth

the submission of the son to the father

the sovergine rule over angels

God’s divine goodness in this plan

Praise Him for | The mercy in this truth

that man would not be worse then he is

that we should strive to be better then we would be

the removal of fear and anxiety

Cower at | The danger by this truth

man has a limited time to repent

man has a limited time to work and to win

fear is the beginning of wisdom

Therefore we must live each day as if it were today

Matthew 24:42 ESV

42 Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming.

Matthew 24:44 ESV

44 Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.

The wisdom of this | This is wise living

we will always be ready

we will minimize our regrets - keep us from trouble

we will lose nothing

The practicality of this | This is practical living

this is the only thing that will stand

this is our hearts truest desire

this is the only thing required

The necessity of this | This is commanded living

He has commanded by His person

He has commanded by His presence

He has commanded by His promises

Because when He comes our destinies will be sealed

Matthew 25:31–34 ESV

31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left. 34 Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.

Matthew 25:41 ESV

41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.

Judgement

when our account is settled we will have no more to add

Our hearts will be laid bear and exposed in truth

We will then reap that what we have sone for good or evil

All men both small and great are held here

Heaven / Hell

eternal bliss, belonging, and blessedness

eternal bondage, burning, and bitterness
