We’ve all heard at some point that we should read out bible. We usually don’t though because we don’t really believe it will change anything.
KJV — HARD TO READ — CONFUSING STUFF
2 Timothy 3:16–17 NLT
16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 17 God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.
What if you could see yourself from God’s perspective? You would read your Bible more. I GET TO HANG OUT WITH GOD
1. CONNECTS US TO OUR HEAVENLY FATHER
2 Corinthians 6:18 NLT
18 And I will be your Father, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”
GOD WANTS TO KNOW YOU AND YOU KNOW HIM — FATHER SON / DAUGHTER
YOUR FATHER LEFT YOU A LETTER AND WANTS YOU TO KNOW HOW MUCH HE LOVES YOU
2. TELLS US WHAT GOD THINKS ABOUT US
When you don’t know the truth about you, and about what God thinks about you, it changes everything.
GO TO A PARTY — FRIENDS SAYS “EVERYONE HERE HATES YOU...”
1 John 3:1 NLT
1 See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him.
3. REMINDS ME OF HIS GRACE OFTEN
THIS IS SOMETHING WE NEED — WE ALL MESS UP SOMETIMES
Ephesians 2:8–9 NLT
8 God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.
YOU DIDN’T EARN IT SO YOU CAN’T GIVE IT BACK — ALMOST SKIPPING MINISTRY BECAUSE OF MISTAKES IN HIGH-SCHOOL
4. GOD SPEAKS TO ME THROUGH HIS WORD
Isaiah 55:10–11 NLT
10 “The rain and snow come down from the heavens and stay on the ground to water the earth. They cause the grain to grow, producing seed for the farmer and bread for the hungry. 11 It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.
