I. The Tree Exists for Jesus. (Mark 11:12-14)

Jeremiah 8:13 – “... there are no grapes on the vine, nor figs on the fig tree; even the leaves are withered, and what I gave them has passed away from them.””

II. The Temple Exists for Jesus. (Mark 11:15-19)

Matthew 12:6 – “I tell you, something greater than the temple is here.”

Mark 11:16 – “And he would not allow anyone to carry anything through the temple.”

1 Corinthians 3:16–17 – “Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.”

2 Corinthians 6:16 – “What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; as God said, “I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.”

1 Corinthians 6:19–20 – “Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.”

1 Timothy 4:8 – “for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.”

Ephesians 2:19–21 – “So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord.”

Revelation 21:22 – “And I saw no temple in the city, for its temple is the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb.”

III. What Worship Looks Like. (Mark 11:20-25)

2. Active Faith

James 4:2 – “You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask.”

3. Forgiveness

Matthew 5:23-24 – “So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift."

Matthew 18:21-22 – “Then Peter came up and said to him, 'Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?' Jesus said to him, 'I do not say to you seven times, but seventy-seven times.'"
