 The Living Church

 Brought from Death to Life

 … by the Holy Spirit

Spirit = Breath of God or Wind of God

Then he said to me, "Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to it, 'This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe into these slain, that they may live.' " So I prophesied as he commanded me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet–a vast army. (Ezekiel 37:9-10, NIV)

When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. (Acts 2:1-2, NIV)

 Born of the Spirit

Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no-one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. (John 3:5-6, NIV)

A Living Church for the Living God

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. (1 Peter 2:9, NIV)

 Sovereign Lord

 Holy Spirit is sovereign

The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit." (John 3:8, NIV)

 Gracious God

But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions–it is by grace you have been saved. (Ephesians 2:4-5, NIV)

From spiritual death to spiritual life

 … by faith

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God– (Ephesians 2:8, NIV)

 Living to Serve

 … for a spiritual purpose

We are saved not by but for good works, and we are saved not just for a beautiful heavenly destiny that God has prepared but for good works here, likewise prepared by God

 Service is our purpose

Good works are Gods design for his new creation and flow from his gracious salvation as its consequence or fruit

 Born to serve

For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. (Ephesians 2:10, NIV)
