Are you today good to be here? Everything working back, there key? All right. Okay. Well, it's a pretty day in it. And and we look forward to what the Lord's going to do today as we continue in our series Angels. God's Messengers is what we going to continue today. What I want to do before we start and I do have a card that I was given. That I want to read. Says, thank you. Your kindness was a gift of God. Your church family. We greatly appreciate the gift last week, especially the fullness continuous prayers and support. Each of you are a blessing to our family. May God continue to richly bless you and your family love and Christ. Mike and Martha. So that's why I'm your pastor and his wife. All right, when we do appreciate everything from last week. It was a wonderful blessing and I hope each of you know that we love you in the Lord and we will continue to pray for Less. Let's talk about what we've covered so far. And I remember we are talkin about angels. Now, we're doing a topical study here and if you'll remember, there's over 300 verses in the Bible that speaks of angels. Now we started out 2 weeks ago. Talkin about the angels in the Bible and how the angels are involved in our world today. And remember we said, at least in our own lives to angels protect us and they guide us they encouraged us. They deliver us and they Empower us. Not remember. I gave you four or three principles, actually, two weeks ago. And that is Angels, must never replace God in our lives. Because ever, since the mid-nineties, there's that's what I call Angel Mania going on in a lot of people almost fall into the area of worshiping angels and we can't do that. So Angels must never replace God and we can't reshape angels to meet our own fancy. That's why we are looking in the Bible to see exactly what the Bible says about a secularism or, you know, out in the world. What their idea of angels are because they're a lot different really from what the Bible says. And then, I think we close must never receive worship. And we looked in the Book of Revelation where John fell down and he started to worship an angel for the wonderful things. He seen. We need, he is able to look into heaven and angel said, I'll do that. I'm just a fellow servant worship God. And then last week, we looked at the creation of angels, They Are Spiritual Beings and we looked at their substance. And remember we talked about when were the Angels created all of them were created at the same time. So they have no no family history. No family tree. They were all created at the same time. And then we looked at some characteristics. Remember, they are innumerable at least in our eyes. There's a certain number of a closed them in human human form, but most time they're invisible. They're Invincible there and mortal and we closed last week talking about how they are intrigued by salvation. Well today, what I want to do. And the title. Is simply Angels, you may know? Probably heard about now. Let's look at the definition of angels and we going to put it up on the screen here. Definition of of angels. What we've said, And it's a little slow this morning in it. Hey, I must be cold definition of angels. Well, if it don't want to come up, I've got it right here. Here's the definition ain't there, It Is. Well, that's host. I skipped over the definition. That was okay. But let me read the definition. Anyway. Angels are intelligent moral and Spiritual Beings created by God who worship Him and carry out his will and purpose is in heaven and on earth. Now, today we want to talk about angels that you may know. Now. We know that. Angelic intervention was common in Bible times and reason we as Christians believe in angels is because the Bible talks so much about him over three hundred times. So what are we to make of how people view Angels today while we're trying to learn from the 300 references in the Bible? So let me give you some names that you've probably heard before if you've ever read your Bible or if you've ever listened to a preacher, some of the names for angels. And the first one that we have up. There is a definition. The first one that we have up is host. Now, if you do a careful study of the Old and New Testament, you will see that angels are carefully organized by God. And under the direct authority of in one of the names of the horse. Sometimes you'll see the Lord of hosts. Well, this, this word host comes from this Hebrew word, Baba, and it comes from a Greek word strata. And this is what it means. It means a well-trained army. Turtles are well-trained army. One that is prepared for war. So in other words, when God commands Angels respond, like they fall in line, When God Says, fall in line, their loyalty to God is on question. Their obedience to God is always instantaneous. You never see an angel in scripture. When God tells Angel to do something. You never hear an angel like Moses. Why I can't speak that. Well, I don't want to go. You never hear Angel giving advice to God never happens. Their loyalty to him is unquestioned, obedience is instantaneous. Not in the Book of Revelation, John to pitch. The end of age of the tribulation and he speaks of Angels in military language. Look at it in Revelation, 19, verse 19. Revelation 19 in verse 19, and this is what the Bible says. And it's not going to come up there, any Beast, the kings of the earth and their armies gather together to make war against him, who set on the horse, and against his army, who's his army, the army of angels. Is who John was talkin about. God's angels are organized and ready to respond to his every desire. Thomas Aquinas. He lived in the 13th century him in thirteen hundred and something. He put the Angels into a 9 level hierarchy and this is what he said. There's a seraphim and cherubim Thrones Dominion power's virtues principalities archangels and Angels. Now, he may have gone maybe a little far and doing that. But every one of those are biblical terms that the Bible uses when it refers to Angel. So the first thing I want you to see is many times. The Bible refer to as host and that is a military term. And it's like, God has his army and he has a higher power key and they're ready to do the bidding of God. They're called host number two. Here's another name that you may have heard in the Bible. And if you've read it in the Bible, you had to read it in one spot because it's the only place in the Bible that 10 that is number to a Seraph. Now, Ephesians sale speaks of at least four tiers or hierarchy of the Angelic rh12 for we, do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities against Powers against the rulers, of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in Heavenly places. Here. It seems like a low or higher key here and he use his powers and rulers and authorities. And I will speaks of the seraphim and the cherubim, which will talk about in a moment and also it cause Angels, some time living creatures. Now, this terraform is only mentioned in one pallet in the Bible. And that is Isaiah chapter 6, to turn, turn to Isaiah chapter. Sixth, Isaiah chapter 6. The only time in the Bible that you'll see this term.

Isaiah chapter 6 and what I'm going to do, I had some of the verses to go on the screen, but since we going to turn there, I'm just going to read it from the Bible here. Isaiah chapter 6, and I want to read the first five verses. Says in the year that King Uzziah died. I saw the Lord sitting on a throne high and lifted up and the train of his robe. Filled the temple. Above it stood. There is our word. Seraphim. I watch this. Each one had six wings with two. He covered his face with two, he covered his feet and with two, he flew. So we had six wings 2 of them. He covered his face to, he covered his feet and he used the other two to fly with first three in one Cried unto another and said now, this is one Sarah from talking to another holy. Holy holy is the Lord of hosts. The whole earth is Glory. The house was filled with smoke. So I said, whoa is me for I'm on dumb because I'm a man of unclean lips and I dwell and met some people of unclean lips for my eyes. Have seen the king, the Lord of hosts. So we see here, this word seraphim. Now, if you look at it, look at what it means. The definition of seraphim is simply list. It means bureaus. Dwell. So close and so God that they burn with holy brilliant. This is what Isaiah saw here. And according to Isaiah. They had six wings not to cover their face would be because of reverence, besides us of the Majestic glory of God. The Bible says, no one has ever seen God and lived. So these angels the seraphim they can't look upon God. So they take their wings and they cover their face. They protect themselves from the Brilliance of God's glory. What a picture this is of reverence that they have for the heavenly father that says, two of the Wings, cover their feet and why would they cover their feet? Where you have to understand in eastern thought? When you cover your feet that denotes deep humility. I don't know if you've ever heard but and your settings says in a chair talkin to him and you know, like some men like to do, they like to cross their legs, where they're their shoe is up like this. If they see the bottom of your shoe your foot, that's an offense to them. So to the Muslim covering your feet, and this is Easter and thought, covering your feet is a sign of humility. You never want to show them the bottom of your foot, by crossing your leg, anything like that. Suicide, it denotes deep humility. And then they have two wings that they fly with. And this kind of pictures the speed in which they carry out. God's will. So think about it for wings for worship to wings for work. Maybe we ought to do that in the trailer. So we would have six wings for work. You know, we're all busy. We want to do this for God. Do they worship him how important it is to worship and to pray and to get to know you got the seraphim also. It says it had human feature such as feet and hands and voices. Now, look at it in versus 6 and 7 of Isaiah chapter 6. This has been one of the seraphim flew to me. This is Isaiah talking having in his hand, a live coal, which he had taken from the tongs from The Altar. And he touched my mouth with it and say it. This is the seraphim talkin butt hole. This has touched your lips you or Nick would he is taking away your sin purged. So we see here. They have human features feet hands voices. Carried a burning coal from the altar. They said that their voice was so loud that it shook the post in the temple and they come forth announcing God's holiness. And then all the sudden, I'm one of them announces the cleansing and forgiveness to Isaiah. If you go to Revelation chapter 4, you'll see Angels there. They're not called Sarah phone, but they fit this pattern. It says that they have six wings them face of a man and all and they cry, holy holy, holy maybe this from the cherubim and seraphim. Maybe this is where we get our concept that angels have wings. You know, that's the only two in the Bible that talks about angels. But when you see all the paintings and all today, remember the little chubby boys and girls with blue eyes and blond hair and they're floating on clouds. And every Angel has a wing or Wings. Well seraphim and cherubim have the number three. Another one you probably heard of is the word cherubim in the Bible. What first of all, let me tell you what it means. It means to plow or two till 2 till the ground. The original word shareable meant to be, diligent. Cherubs are those angels that stay and stand close to God's Throne. They don't look anything like the painting and the artwork that we see of angels. Now, we're not going to turn here. But if you want to read an extended passage on cherubs, it's a zequiel chapter 1. You all the way through verse 26, we're not going to read that but I want to read what 1 Bible scholar has said, when he read that passage, I wrote down. This is his general feeling about what cherubs look like that. Listen to this, the general appearance of the living beings were somewhat like a man I ever, they would not be mistaken for humans. They each had four faces and four wings, the cherubim's implies that they were standing upright but their feet worth calf like instead of human. And we're like burnished bronze. Ezekiel said the four cherubim also had humanlike hands having four faces on four sides of their heads and being connected and asked where they were able to travel straight in any direction and to change direction without turning. They have four faces just here in here. Like that. Didn't never had to turn. What does Ezekiel say about? Look at Ezekiel 10:20. This is the living creature out of Israel by the river chebar. And I knew they were quite sure of them and says that they look like so cherubim seem to have more of a human appearance and a Ser form, each one had four faces the face of a man, the face of a line, the face of an ox in the face of an eagle. That's what Ezekiel tells us. They have human hands and they have 4 instead of six wings 2 Wings cover their body. To Bible says, that's in reverence to God it with the other two Wings. They fly. And when they fly the Bible says, they make a great noise, but let me tell you something about cherubim in the Bible. Cherubim never conveys any type of instructions or messages from God to human beings. You'll never find that in the Bible. You say, what? What do a shared bones do? Well, the first place you'll find them is that the Garden of Eden and they were guarding the gate there with flaming swords. The Bible says, in Genesis, after Adam and Eve had to send and they were cast out of the garden. What is that teaching us? That we have to cherubim Angels there, with, with his ass. This That Saint in heaven are incompatible. That's what it teaches us. Those angels were not going to let anyone Back In The Garden of Eating until seeing have been done away with and forgiving. Seeing in heaven are not compatible. The cherubim seem to be very important in the Old Testament history of Israel. When God gave the plans for the Tabernacle. He instructed that to Golden cherubs in. This is where he said, it'd be placed on The Mercy Seat, which was kind of the lid of the Ark of the Covenant and cherubs faced each other, and their wings were stretched out. And then the design of the cherubim was also woven into the curtain. In the Tabernacle in Solomon's, Temple was built the men. They are carved images and design of cherubim in the walls, in the doors and constructed these huge figures of Cherryville. Very important in Israel Old Testament history. So we have host like an army, A. How're. We have the Ser form which is different than the chair. We have those. Well now let's talk about the two angels that have names in the Bible and only two. And let's talk about the first one is Michael. Now, we've heard of Michael. My name is Michael. You know, what? Do you know? What the name? Michael means? Who is like God you see Mars over shaking her head like that? Who is like God? He's the only Archangel mentioned in the Bible and scholars believe he's the only Archangel that he stands at the head of all Angels. Let me show you one passage in the Old Testament that speaks of Michael Daniel 1013, but the prince of the kingdom of Persia. Which is probably talk about Satan. Withstood me, 21 days and behold, Michael. One of the chief princes came to help me for have been left alone there with the kings of Persia. So this is talking about a spiritual battle that's going on here. And Michael is often seen in the in the scriptures as a defender of Israel. If you look at writings outside, the Bible, No, Angel has more prominence than the Angel, Michael, he ranks as the greatest of all angels in Christian and Jewish and also in Islamic literature, Billy Graham called Michael this, the prime minister in God's administration of the universe. What Billy Graham said, the Jews believed it was Michael who destroyed the invading Syrian Army that night when a hundred eighty-five thousand. Soldiers were destroyed and summon and some of their writings. Also suggest schools voice will be the one to announce the return of Christ at the Rapture of the church. Remember the Bible says, the voice of an archangel, the sound of a trumpet. The voice of an R12 many believe that to be Michael. And then, at the end of the age, the Bible says Michael, and his angels will be locked into like this Titanic struggle in the universe in the tribulation. And now, of course, that will Mark the defeat of Satan and the forces of darkness, and the scripture says that Michael will be victorious. So, that's Michael in the Bible. He's a defender of Israel. He's a seems always be connected with fighting or military Michael. Well, there's one more I want to share with you and will close. And that is the name Gabriel. Those are the only two angels in the Bible. This ever mentioned by name. Now, the word Gabriel means mighty one of God. Luke calls him, the angel of the Lord and look. What Gabriel says about himself in Luke chapter 1, verse 19 and the angel answered and said to him I am Gabriel. Who stands in the presence of God. When you like to say that, it may be something, it was, who are you? I spend all day. I stand in the presence of God and was sent the speed. You and the bring you these glad Tiding if you want to. Remember one thing about Gabriel remember, this, he is God special messenger Angel. He appears four times in the Bible and every single time. He brings good news. He's got special good news bear. He came to Daniel. When he prayed at the end of Babylonian captivity, 500 years later. He announced the birth of John, the Baptist does Zacharias, and then a little time later. He announced the birth of Jesus Christ to Mary. Mary came to me and said you highly favored one. That was the angel Gabriel bring in the good news. It seems in the Bible, if you look at the information. That Michael is the fighting protecting Angel. Gabriel, is the preaching announcing Angel. It's like they have different jobs that God has called them to do. Now. This tells us something.

God is a god of order and organization. You say, well, why would you bring that up? Well, you can see it in the Angelic realm. God has specific Angels, maybe, Gabriel to come and speak to people. Maybe someone is so discouraged, the contemplating suicide. God may send them, someone maybe an angel to encourage them. It would be an angel like Gabriel. Maybe you're in a fix. Like the missionary was that was surrounded by The Warriors and Africa and they were going to be killed God. Send his angels with his drone swords there to stand there and to protect. That would be an angel. Maybe like Michael. But what I'm saying is God has set up an authority structure within this universe, and you can see it in the Angelic realm, the hierarchy here. You can also see his order and his authority structure within the church. You have a pastor, you have a Elders, you have deacons you have congregants. You can see it in the home. You have a husband who's the spiritual leader. You have his helper wife. You have children whose under mom and dad and you have Mom and Dad children. Who's ultimately under God? God is a, he he is not a god of chaos. He is a god of order and structure. You see it in government. Why do you think Nations have governments the way we do? And we, and, you know, you have the city government and you have Civic, and then you go up and up and then you have the Supreme Court. It keeps going up and up. There's a order there that that combat is biblical. We see that and all the Lesser authorities are in submission to the ultimate Great Authority, who is God himself, and we even see it in the Angelic realm. So let me just leave you with this story. Some of the most amazing stories. Of God's intervention. Through his angels have come to us through War. I was reading this week and I found a story. That spoke of Angels in World War 1. I don't know if you've ever heard of this but it was called the angels of Mons. Now, mine's this was told throughout England within a month after the battle was over Mom's, was a town or a city near, it was in France. In August 1914. The British troops were fighting Germany and the Brits were, they were just about to be defeated. They had lost a lot of their men that lost all of their guns and all and they had to eat buddy. We're running out of ammunition and it says that just the feet was just inevitable within a day or two. With one of the captains are the Brits. His name is Cecil Hayward. He told about how in the midst of the battle firing, you know back and forth. All of a sudden at the same exact time, the Germans and the British stopped shooting. He said, you never say anything like that. He said they both stopped at the same time and no one fired a shot and it says both sides. And this is the way he put it. We saw four or five wonderful beings much bigger than men between ourselves and the German. These men were bareheaded, wore, white robes, and seemed to float rather than stand. He said their backs were to our army, the Brits, and their arms and hands with swords were outstretched toward the Germans. I said at that moment, when the horses that were written by the Germans saw this, they became terrified and started running in every direction where there was a lady by the name of Hope price. And she recorded all this in a book. And she said, the only thing that I can think of she said the British government, Would officially sponsored national days of prayer during World War One. And she believes the government's commitment to prayer. Played a part in this Angelic intervention on behalf of the British soldiers. You know, John Wesley once said this he said God does nothing. Until somebody starts praying. That's what John Wesley said, God does nothing until someone starts praying and then all these stories from the war's almost. All of them are directly linked with people praying. You see, God knows what we need. Exactly at the time that we needed. So, we looked at these today, these angels that you may know, we've looked at host the Army. We looked at the scera phone here and Isaiah the only place and Isaiah only place in the Bible to seraphine is mentioned the cherubim, of course, guarding the gates. Then we looked at Michael and Gabriel. One more military, one more the part of bringing good news friends that the angels that are mentioned in the bible. Now next week. I'm going to be out. But when I returned the next Sunday, we're going to talk about Guardian Angels. What does the Bible say about Guardian Angels? Do we each have an angel or more that guards us assigned to us? Does the bible teach that or are millions of angels available for God to send to whomever. He pleases, we going to see what the Bible says about.
