Israel Demands a King

I Samuel 8:1-11, 18-22.

1. Rejection of the Judges:

a. Samuel's Sons, vv. 1-2.

b. Sinful Service, v. 3.

2. Rejection of God, vv. 4-9.

a. A King Demanded, 2 Corinthians 6:17, Exodus 32:1, Numbers 14:4, Judges 8:22, 23.

3. Rejection of Samuel's Warning, vv. 18-20.

a. James 4:3, Galatians 6:7.

Conclusion:

God is the Supreme Ruler that we must submit to. It is dangerous and unwise to reject God's leadership. That is not to say that we should be disobedient to our government. As Christians, we should be good citizens. However, our ultimate allegiance belongs to our God and Him alone.
