The Great athletes in every sport have one thing in common. They are all devoted. They give everything to be in the best shape and condition to compete at the highest level. Think about what many believe to be the greatest swimmer of all time said concerning his training routine. Eat, Swim, Sleep. 6-8 hours everyday (7 days a week) He trains. Even on holidays (Yes Christmas too) he trains. That’s the price of being a champion. You think about the legendary Michael Jordan who showed up early and stayed late to train. You think about Kobe Bryant, you think about Hershel Walker 5,000 sit ups and 5000 push ups everyday along with all the other stuff he did. Dwayne Douglas Johnson aka the Rock. Up at 3:30 every morning, eh only gets 3-5 hrs of sleep everyday. Everywhere he travels his “Iron Paradise” comes with him. He never misses a workout. The common theme they are devoted, unwavering, committed to their craft. Japanese Samurai - life of devotion to a craft or skill. They don’t give 10% or 50% or even 75%. They give it 100% or for the really devoted they give it 110%. They eat drink and sleep whatever discipline they are training to obtain.

“Let your heart therefore be wholly devoted to the Lord our God, to walk in His statutes and to keep His commandments, as at this day.”
we have Solomon who has built the temple and is now giving a prayer of dedication, a benediction, & sacrifices of dedication to the Lord. There is this plea to the people to be wholly devoted to the Lord. Why did they go into Egyptian captivity in the first place. they were not wholly devoted to the Lord. if they become that way again they will go into captivity again.
Every-time Israel got in trouble;e was because they were not wholly devoted to The Lord. You know what that is true with us as well. When do we get in trouble. When do we fall short. Why do we get lost. It’s because we are not wholly devoted to the Lord. We don’t give 100% of our lives to the Lord. Let’s be honest we give very little of our lives to the Lord. Sometimes I think we think if we give more to the Lord than the other things that's enough. If I give 51% of my life to the lord then that is = to 100%. I don’t think so.
What’s keeping you from giving 100% to the Lord?
What has your allegiance? What has your attention your focus. The world the things of the world. family, friends, work, hobbies,
Mark 12:30 NASB95
and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’
That is with every ounce of your being. Are you selling out for Jesus. Are you giving everything you have for his mission for his glory. Or does something else have your heart?
Matthew 6:24 NASB95
“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.
Where is your heart this morning, where is your treasure? Is you your heart wholly devoted to the Lord?
1 Kings 11:4 NASB95
For when Solomon was old, his wives turned his heart away after other gods; and his heart was not wholly devoted to the Lord his God, as the heart of David his father had been.
1 Kings 15:3 NASB95
He walked in all the sins of his father which he had committed before him; and his heart was not wholly devoted to the Lord his God, like the heart of his father David.
1 Kings 15:14 NASB95
But the high places were not taken away; nevertheless the heart of Asa was wholly devoted to the Lord all his days.
Psalm 73:25 NASB95
Whom have I in heaven but You? And besides You, I desire nothing on earth.
I don’t know about you but I desire to wholly given to the Lord and one of the things that helps me to do that is that I remember that the Lord is wholly devoted to his children. He gives us love forgiveness, mercy, provision, protection, His Son.
1 Kings 8:23 NASB95
He said, “O Lord, the God of Israel, there is no God like You in heaven above or on earth beneath, keeping covenant and showing lovingkindness to Your servants who walk before You with all their heart,
