Marcie did you know that---
Farming has been changing in America
Shift from mega farms to farms to market
Restaurants contracting Farms for produce etc.
quality, choice for organic foods, better taste, and a sense of community
Key Points
Key Points
Jesus gives us great instructions about sowing seed
Maybe it’s really about the Soil more than the Seed
Seeds are genetically designed to work.
corn seeds produce corn
peas produce peas
alfalfa produce alfalfa
Environment will determine the seeds outcome
drought yields less desirable crops
too much moisture will ruin the crop
nutritionally deprived or over worked soil less less
rich in nutrients yields abundant crops
We have become LIKE DRY BONES—filled with so much information and knowledge that we are disjointed from true relationship with the creator of the universe.

Investigate the SOIL with Matthew
Investigate the SOIL with Matthew
Matthew 13.3-9
He told many stories in the form of parables, such as this one:
“Listen! A farmer went out to plant some seeds. As he scattered them across his field, some seeds fell on a footpath, and the birds came and ate them. Other seeds fell on shallow soil with underlying rock. The seeds sprouted quickly because the soil was shallow. But the plants soon wilted under the hot sun, and since they didn’t have deep roots, they died. Other seeds fell among thorns that grew up and choked out the tender plants. Still other seeds fell on fertile soil, and they produced a crop that was thirty, sixty, and even a hundred times as much as had been planted! Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand.”
Let’s look closer at the types of Soil:
the Path
hard, wore down
the Rocky
no depth to put down roots
the Weedy
competition for nutrients and space
the Rich Soil
Ah! just right
If the Word isn’t taking root in our life we need to check the Soil of our Heart.
Matt.13.18-23
Matthew 13:18–23 (NLT)
18 “Now listen to the explanation of the parable about the farmer planting seeds:
19 The seed that fell on the footpath represents those who hear the message about the Kingdom and don’t understand it. Then the evil one comes and snatches away the seed that was planted in their hearts.
Ask for Wisdom according to James 1.5
5 If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.
20 The seed on the rocky soil represents those who hear the message and immediately receive it with joy.
21 But since they don’t have deep roots, they don’t last long. They fall away as soon as they have problems or are persecuted for believing God’s word.
We need Daily care to help us live by faith.
Daily Bread
Matthew 7:24–27 (NLT)
24 “Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock.
25 Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock.
26 But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand.
27 When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.”
We need Daily care to help us live by faith.
Eph 5.26
26 to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word.
22 The seed that fell among the thorns represents those who hear God’s word, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the worries of this life and the lure of wealth, so no fruit is produced.
1John 2.16
16 For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world.
titus 2.12
12 This same grace teaches us how to live each day as we turn our backs on ungodliness and indulgent lifestyles, and it equips us to live self-controlled, upright, godly lives in this present age.
23 The seed that fell on good soil represents those who truly hear and understand God’s word and produce a harvest of thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times as much as had been planted!”
Investigate SEED Development
Investigate SEED Development
the planting of a Garden...
it won’t take care of itself
weeds will overrun it
it needs daily tending, watering, pulling weeds, etc.
the AVOCADO SEED IN WATER
Prepping the seed for the water
skin removal and tooth pics
God removing the old man to be ready for the new
Tap root was visible and viable
Stagnant water stunts growth
Lack of water prohibits growth
Left in the water too long will cause the tap root to crowd itself and stunt growth
Fresh water at right levels yields best growth
the AVOCADO SEED IN SOIL
in soil you wouldn’t be able to see the tap roots development
physical judgments would be wrong if you could only see the outside
Too much water will drown the plant
PLANTS SHED THEIR LEAVES...
other religions vs Faith
we speak the Word till we see the fruit

Col.3.16
16 Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
Let God’s Word Richly dwell in us should be a High Priority —
HOW DO WE GET RICH SOIL—READY FOR THE PLANTING OF GOD’S WORD?
Nurture the Soul

2 tim. 2.22

1Cor. 10.13
1 Corinthians 10:13 (NLT)
13 The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.
Feed the Soul
start daily Bible reading
Matt.4.4
4 But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say, ‘People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
Water the Soul

THAT GOD WOULD CONTINUE TO MAKE US HUNGER FOR HIS WORD, THAT NOTHING WILL SATISFY US LIKE HIS WORD. THAT WE WILL NEVER GIVE UP TIL WE SEE THE HIS FRUIT GROWING IN US.
