What Is Your Perspective on God?

If we can grasp God’s promises about WHO HE IS and what HE IS LIKE.
It would change our outlook on life.
We would be able to Trust Him.
One of the greatest things you have in life is your perspective.
Just how big is God?
We might not ask this question or speak this a lot.
BUT When we DON”T TRUST we are thinking this thought in our minds.
This was the type of question the Israelites were asking in Isaiah 40 What was going on in ISAIAH ?
If we could see how big God is, we would not ask this question.
They were exiled in Babylon. Punishment was happening to the sin of Isreal because they rejected God.
The Handbook of Bible Promises Four Facts about God

In verses 1–11 we hear tender voices speaking to Jerusalem that her time in exile is soon to come to an end: the Lord is coming to her rescue!

Isaiah 40:1-2
Isaiah 40:1–2 (NIV)
Comfort, comfort my people, says your God. Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her that her hard service has been completed, that her sin has been paid for, that she has received from the Lord’s hand double for all her sins.

God deals with His People’s Sin.

Dealing with Sin is always God’s first step in bringing change to people’s lives.
Rescues us from sin.
Rescued me from bad friendships.
People have influence in your life.
Is God influencing you more than the people around you?
Redeems us from sin and into a life of righteousness, and gives us redemption.
Ephesians 1:7
Ephesians 1:7 NIV
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace
The Big difference in every situation is God coming into that situation.
Are we inviting Him into our situation.
Do we want Him to be the center of our life?
Help me with school? Help me to treat people right.
When God comes, things change!
Isaiah 40:3-5
Isaiah 40:3–5 (NIV)
A voice of one calling: “In the wilderness prepare the way for the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low; the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain. And the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all people will see it together. For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”

The presence of God always changes things.

Who has encountered Gods presence before?
Gods presence is available to everyone.
He is there to comfort you, strength you, and change you.
His presence is not just at church but you can access Him even at home.
His presence and His Word changes your perspective.
Isaiah 40:8
Isaiah 40:8 (NIV)
The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.”

God’s Word and promise are unchanging and eternal.

Everything will pass away but the Word of God will remain forever.
Gods Word and promises never change.
God is faithful to His Word and His promises.
I can rely and trust His Word and His promises.
Isaiah 40:11
Isaiah 40:11 (NIV)
He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.

God comes with power, but also with tenderness.

Limitless Power - He tells the sea not to go any further. Telling the sun when to rise and set.
God exercises His power with amazing tenderness.
Looks after us just like a shepherd looks after his sheep.
He wants to carry you in His arms close to His heart.
When sheep encounter rushing waters the shepherd would put the sheep on His shoulders.
When a new baby is born they do a thing called skin to skin.
They put the baby right on the mom and dad. Bonding time for the newborn baby.
But what people don’t realize is that the baby is listening to the heart beat of the parents when the baby lays their head on their chest.
Because it familiar to the child. That is all the child all day long in the womb of the mother.
You were created to know Gods heart. Before you were born you were predestined to be with Him.
John 10:11
John 10:11 NIV
“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
He lays down His own life so you can have life.
Jesus, the good shepherd lays down His life for you.
Micah 5:4
Micah 5:4 (NIV)
He will stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God. And they will live securely, for then his greatness will reach to the ends of the earth.
While he shepherds you, guiding you and protecting you.
His strength is given to you on your behalf.
Parents give advice to strengthen you.
God desires you to be secure in His greatness.
It is easier to Trust God with your life when you are secure in His greatness.
The Lion and the Bear were killed by David
He knew God would protect him. It was the strength of the shepherd that made him secure.
God gives you strength as you let him shepherd you.
Gods greatness and strength make us secure.
Gods greatness, strength, and security gives you confidence to TRUST Him.
The sheep trusted the shepherd to protect them.

There is no one like God!

Isaiah 49:15-16
Isaiah 49:15–16 (NIV)
“Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me.
You are so important to God that your name is engraved on the palm of my hands.
God engraved you on the palms of His hands.
Tattoos?

God Cannot Forget About You.

- There are always those people who lost their perspective or think God has forgotten about them.
What about you? Do you think God has forgotten about you?
No! God cannot forget about you. God is so great that He doesn't want to see you fail.
Some believers even think God is to great to care about me and my situation.
Isaiah 40:29-31
Isaiah 40:29–31 (NIV)
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

God’s power is for weary people.

Even youth grow tired and weary.
We are going to get weary in following God.
Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
Putting our trust in the Lord refreshes hope.
Hope ignited like fire.
We can soar above the pressures or problems in life.
I must admit my need of help, humbling myself in weakness, and Trust Gods greatness.
2 cor 12:9
2 Corinthians 12:9 NIV
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
There is an exchange with God. You give God your weakness and God will give you His power.
Gods power is made perfect in weakness.
How great is God in the way we think?
- If He is not great in our thinking (minds) he will never be great in our living.
The Handbook of Bible Promises (What about Us?)
Your thoughts of God are too human,” This is where most of us go astray. Our thoughts of God are not great enough; we fail to reckon with the reality of His limitless wisdom and power. Because we ourselves are limited and weak, we imagine that at some point God is too, and find it hard to believe that He is not. We think of God as too much like what we are.” - Luther Erasmus
It is hard to grasp Gods presence and Gods promises if he is small in our minds.
Thoughts like God cant do that.. Or that is impossible, are all thoughts that God is small.
Thoughts can form your perspective and exceptions. What are you thinking?
God never gets tired of pursuing you. God doesn’t seek your mistakes. God has unlimited resources for you, God wants to strengthen you.
5 Main Points of Truth:
No Problem is bigger than God.
No Need is beyond Gods reach.
No Opportunity is bigger than God.
No Sin is bigger than Gods power to deal with it.
No event will every take God by surprise.
