God’s will is the will of every disciple
READ Matthew 6:11-12
Carrying Alison’s bag in DC for a two-day trip
Many people want to follow the Lord’s will but fear that their daily needs won’t be met.
“Where will I eat and sleep?”

1. God knows that we have material needs.

The people of rural Galilee were poor and oppressed, and resources such as food were scarce.
This prayer reflects the real needs of people living in difficult times.
“Daily” - Compound word occurs nowhere else.
“Day-by-day”, spiritual dependance on a daily basis.
Thomas Chisholm “Great is Thy Faithfulness”.
Living in North America reminds me of the importance of defining “need”.
This prayer of for our needs, not our greeds.
All good things, even our ability to work and earn food, come from God’s hand.
Even in wealth of any kind, we are called to daily dependance on the Lord.
Every day is an opportunity for the Lord to provide.
Acknowledge Him in gratitude and trust Him when you pray.

2. God knows that our sins need to be forgiven.

“Our debts” (ophelema) = debt; obligations; sin.
This word represents sin both as wrong and as requiring satisfaction.
“Forgives” lit. to send away or dismiss. Past tense.
Christ assumes that if we pray a prayer of forgiveness, we have already forgiven those who have hurt us.
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us of all unrighteousness.” - 1 John 1:9
“Mr. Edwards , we have all the required funds in your account” DBU Financial Office
When God forgives you, He no longer credits sin to your life.
And he wants us to do the same for others.
What about people who have really hurt us?
Everything has to pass through God’s fingers.
For the believer, God can carry out everything for the good of His people.
Pray for your needs and sin.
