What does your faith in Jesus Christ have to do with your homework?

1 Corinthians 10:31 ESV
31 So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

Our purpose in (home) work is to glorify God and enjoy Him (forever).

Proverbs 16:3 ESV
3 Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.
Romans 14:6–9 ESV
6 The one who observes the day, observes it in honor of the Lord. The one who eats, eats in honor of the Lord, since he gives thanks to God, while the one who abstains, abstains in honor of the Lord and gives thanks to God. 7 For none of us lives to himself, and none of us dies to himself. 8 For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s. 9 For to this end Christ died and lived again, that he might be Lord both of the dead and of the living.

Your homework can be worshipful.

Colossians 3:22–24 ESV
22 Bondservants, obey in everything those who are your earthly masters, not by way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but with sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord. 23 Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.

The Big Question: How can you glorify God in your school work?

1. Dependence

Proverbs 3:5–6 ESV
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
John 15:5 ESV
5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.

Your satisfaction in life comes from God alone.

2. Integrity

Proverbs 11:1 ESV
1 A false balance is an abomination to the Lord, but a just weight is his delight.
3. Skill
4. Culture Shaping
5. Impact
6. Communication
7. Love
8. Thanks.
9. Forgiveness
These things only work when coming from a heart full surrendered to Christ, to seeing His will done and not our own.
How do we work and do our homework “as for the Lord.”

Don’t be looking likes. - don’t be a man-pleaser or seeking eye service.

The opposite of number one is sincerity.

Fear the Lord - right reverence for God and what He has done for you and wants for you.

Work heartily - give it what you’ve got and trust God with the results.

You may work really hard and get nothing from man but understand your reward comes from your Father in Heaven and not from the applause of men.

Acts 17:25 ESV
25 nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything.

It shows the world that God is our greatest treasure.

2 Corinthians 2:15 ESV
15 For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing,
2 Corinthians 8:9 ESV
9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich.
1 Peter 3:15 ESV
15 but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,
