Putting all your Trust in God When you are facing the impossible.

Joshua 6:1–25 (NKJV)
1 Now Jericho was securely shut up because of the children of Israel; none went out, and none came in.
2 And the Lord said to Joshua: “See! I have given Jericho into your hand, its king, and the mighty men of valor.
3 You shall march around the city, all you men of war; you shall go all around the city once. This you shall do six days.
4 And seven priests shall bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark. But the seventh day you shall march around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets.
5 It shall come to pass, when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, that all the people shall shout with a great shout; then the wall of the city will fall down flat. And the people shall go up every man straight before him.”
6 Then Joshua the son of Nun called the priests and said to them, “Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark of the Lord.”
7 And he said to the people, “Proceed, and march around the city, and let him who is armed advance before the ark of the Lord.”
8 So it was, when Joshua had spoken to the people, that the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the Lord advanced and blew the trumpets, and the ark of the covenant of the Lord followed them.
9 The armed men went before the priests who blew the trumpets, and the rear guard came after the ark, while the priests continued blowing the trumpets.
10 Now Joshua had commanded the people, saying, “You shall not shout or make any noise with your voice, nor shall a word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I say to you, ‘Shout!’ Then you shall shout.”
11 So he had the ark of the Lord circle the city, going around it once. Then they came into the camp and lodged in the camp.
12 And Joshua rose early in the morning, and the priests took up the ark of the Lord.
13 Then seven priests bearing seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark of the Lord went on continually and blew with the trumpets. And the armed men went before them. But the rear guard came after the ark of the Lord, while the priests continued blowing the trumpets.
14 And the second day they marched around the city once and returned to the camp. So they did six days.
15 But it came to pass on the seventh day that they rose early, about the dawning of the day, and marched around the city seven times in the same manner. On that day only they marched around the city seven times.
16 And the seventh time it happened, when the priests blew the trumpets, that Joshua said to the people: “Shout, for the Lord has given you the city!
17 Now the city shall be doomed by the Lord to destruction, it and all who are in it. Only Rahab the harlot shall live, she and all who are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.
18 And you, by all means abstain from the accursed things, lest you become accursed when you take of the accursed things, and make the camp of Israel a curse, and trouble it.
19 But all the silver and gold, and vessels of bronze and iron, are consecrated to the Lord; they shall come into the treasury of the Lord.”
20 So the people shouted when the priests blew the trumpets. And it happened when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat. Then the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.
21 And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, ox and sheep and donkey, with the edge of the sword.
22 But Joshua had said to the two men who had spied out the country, “Go into the harlot’s house, and from there bring out the woman and all that she has, as you swore to her.”
23 And the young men who had been spies went in and brought out Rahab, her father, her mother, her brothers, and all that she had. So they brought out all her relatives and left them outside the camp of Israel.
24 But they burned the city and all that was in it with fire. Only the silver and gold, and the vessels of bronze and iron, they put into the treasury of the house of the Lord.
25 And Joshua spared Rahab the harlot, her father’s household, and all that she had. So she dwells in Israel to this day, because she hid the messengers whom Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.
Intro: When we read about the story of the children of Israel entering the promised land and conquering the city of Jericho they did to “Accomplishing the Impossible”
In our own lives we need to do so we can do whatever God has called us to do or what ever we are facing.

Put your trust in Gods word. VS 1-2

Joshua 6:1–2 NKJV
1 Now Jericho was securely shut up because of the children of Israel; none went out, and none came in. 2 And the Lord said to Joshua: “See! I have given Jericho into your hand, its king, and the mighty men of valor.
Jericho had closed it gates.
Jericho must have looked to Joshua like an “impossible” enemy
God promised, however, “I have given into your hand, Jericho, its king, and the mighty men of valor.”
(Vs 2)
• When tasked with ministry we must remember that God only calls us when we are ready and he is able to trust our spiritually ability to accomplish the task.
1 Corinthians 10:13 (NKJV)
13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
In other words, God has prepared his people for his work
Ephesians 4:11–12 NKJV
11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ,
We have been given gifts not for the glory of the individual but rather for the MINISTRY of Christ and His church. To EDIFY Him
• When faced with an overwhelming task such as overcoming a cities walls without firing a single offensive weapon; it is imperative that we trust the one directing us for his knowledge of the victory already won.
God told Joshua in vs 2 that he had already delivered the city to him and the children of Israel
What did Joshua have to do?
Believe that God had done as he said.
When you ‘Consider It Done’ you can see that with God you can ‘Accomplish the Impossible’

Put your Trust in Gods Plan. VS 3-11

Joshua 6:3–11 (NKJV)
VS 3 -7
This is God plan. Seems strange. This would show an act of obedience. Obedience to God is required when facing the impossible.
No situation is too great for the Lord to handle, and no problem is too much for Him to solve.
God’s plan for the conquest of Jericho was seemingly foolish, but it worked. God’s wisdom is far above ours
God will use people and plans that seem foolish to the world .
Whether it’s Joshua with trumpets, Gideon with torches and pitchers.
David used with his sling and stone.
God loves in using who seem weak, those who seem unusable and what seems foolishness to defeat His enemies and glorify His name.
VS 8-11
God’s instructions for His plan were that the armed men march around Jericho once a day for six days, followed by seven priests each blowing a trumpet.
The priests carrying the ark of the Lord would come next, and the rear guard would complete the procession.
On the seventh day the procession would march around the city seven times, the priests would give a long blast on the trumpets, and then the marchers would all shout. God would then cause the walls to fall down flat so that the soldiers could easily enter the city.
In this plan the emphasis is on the number seven: seven priests, seven trumpets, seven days of marching, and seven times around the city on the seventh day.
The number seven is written clearly into the life of Israel: The Sabbath is celebrated on the seventh day of the week; seven weeks from Passover is Pentecost; the seventh year is the Sabbatical Year; and after forty-nine years (seven times seven) comes the Year of Jubilee.
Three of Israel’s feasts fall in the seventh month: the Feast of Trumpets, the Day of Atonement (Lev. 16), and the Feast of Tabernacles.
.
In the Bible the number seven represents completeness or perfection. The Hebrew word translated “seven” (shevah) comes from a root that means “to be full, to be satisfied.”
When God finished His work of creation, He rested on the seventh day and sanctified it (Gen. 2:3), and this helped give the number seven its sacred significance.
The Jews noted that there were seven promises in God’s covenant with Abraham (12:1–3) and seven branches on the candlestick in the tabernacle (Ex. 37:17–24).
Anything involving the number seven was especially sacred to them. It spoke of God’s ability to finish whatever He started.
They had Gods plan, now they have step out in faith to accomplish Gods plan.
If you are going to accomplish whatever God has for you to do, you have to take that step of faith. You have to trust God.
God give Joshua His plan, but He also gives them His promise. VS 5
“then the wall of the city will fall down flat”
This was God’s promise, and His promises never fail.
God’s people don’t simply fight for victory but because we already victory, because the Lord has already won the battle.
If we believe on His promises and obey what He tells you to do, and you shall have the victory.

Put your faith in action. VS 12-25

Joshua 6:12–25 NKJV
22 But Joshua had said to the two men who had spied out the country, “Go into the harlot’s house, and from there bring out the woman and all that she has, as you swore to her.” 23 And the young men who had been spies went in and brought out Rahab, her father, her mother, her brothers, and all that she had. So she dwells in Israel to this day, because she hid the messengers whom Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.

Faith is following through with God’s design in trusting his ability to deliver us.
Hebrews 11:1 NKJV
1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Hebrews 11:30 NKJV
30 By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they were encircled for seven days.
If we are victorious through Jesus Christ, then we need to BELIEVE that God can do his will through us and us through him
Joshua never questioned God’s directive, he simply passed the information to those affected and followed through with the plan
“Faith does not operate in the realm of the possible. There is no glory for God in that which is humanly possible. Faith begins where man’s power ends.”
Faith is the belief in God’s ability to accomplish the impossible
When God has tasked us with a specific ministry, we must claim the task as our own for God has already made it possible for us to accomplish the thing we are called to do
What ever your are facing that seems impossible, God is there with you.
Philippians 4:13 (NKJV)
13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Philippians 4:19 NKJV
19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
We can overcome, as the children of Israel did, because we claim what God has already given us as our own through FAITH
How do we ‘ACCOMPLISH THE IMPOSSIBLE’? We put it in the hands of Jesus.
