John 4:28 (KJV)
28 The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men,
Leave it with Him.
Look at somebody that look like they came to have church and say neighbor, I don’t know what you going through I don’t know what you going through, but Today is a good day to leave it with Jesus
Fb, our text s found in the Gospel of John. John Christological image of writing this gospel that we may believe Jesus is the messiah and the son of God. And if we believe in him, we will have eternal life. It’s a heavenly guarantee.
And in John gospel when reading CH. By CH. We find that things have a way of changing when they encounter Jesus.
If you don’t believe me if you look over in John CH. 2 Jesus comes in contact with water and turn it into top shelf wine.
I wish you was here last Sunday.
If you don’t believe me, if you look in John CH. 5 Jesus have come in contact with a man that has been lame at his feet 38 years, on a mat by the pool of Bethesdan, amen but when this man comes in contact with Jesus, he’s no longer lying on his mat and the very thing that use to carry him, God give him a strong deliverance to carry it.
Surly thing happens when you come in contact with Jesus.
If you don’t believe me look in John CH. 6 there’s a Lad lunch before you know it becomes in contact with the master and I got some good news to tell you this morning, a little becomes a lot when you put it in the hands of Jesus.
In John CH.9 There was a blind man sitting on side of the road begging. This man was blind from birth and after this man came in contact with Jesus, he left shouting I once was blind but now I see.
Over in John CH.11 I’m just trying to wake yall up and get you caught up on things will change when you come in contact with Jesus.
In John CH.11 he comes in contact with a man by the name of Lazarus who has been dead 4 long days, but after Jesus calls him by name, Lazerious come forth this dead man became a living soul.
Well,
IDK why you ain’t shouting today.
IDK why you ain’t giving God praise today.
But over and over again we see thing have a way changing when they come in contact with Jesus
I know I got at lease 25 of yall in this house who can testify
I don’t live the same way I use to live
I don’t do the same stuff I use to do
I don’t talk the same way I use to talk
I don’t walk the same way I use to walk
I don’t love the same way I use to love
I don’t care the same way I use to care.
And I realize that its all because I’ve came in contact with Jesus
I wish I had some help!!!
See you still wondering how I can love folk and I know like me. It’s because I came in contact with Jesus.
You wanna know how and why I ain’t cuss you back out and cut you down is because I came in contact with Jesus
And this morning I know it’s still early for some of yall but I’m just looking for about 5 people and we will have church all by ourselves who can testify…
He changed my life.
I need somebody who ain’t scared to halla and open up your mouth to give God praise in this church look at your neighbor I know I been changed.
When I was a growing up in FBC the choir use to sing a song I know I been changed. Because the angles in heaven have signed my name.
Is there anybody in this house today who can give God praise because you know something about the saving changing power of Jesus Christ.
That why Paul says if any man be in Christ, HE’s a new creature old thing have passed away and behold all things have become new.
PAUSE!!!!
Fb, this whole discourse of CH of John CH. 4 has the potential of rising and reaching over 109 degrees. Sweat is pouring from the Lord’s brow. He’s resting after a long journey to Jacob well in Samaria territory. You have to watch this yall because its amazing that this whole particular place Jews despise Samaria, Jews are going through Samaria although traveling through Samaria was the shortest route to get Galilee.
Context of the Text:
A. The Savior at Sychar (4:1–6): Jesus leaves Judea for Galilee.
1. Why he leaves (4:1–3): He departs to avoid a popularity contest between himself and John.
2. Where he stops (4:4–6): He rests beside Jacob’s well at Sychar, a town in Samaria.
And see you have to watch this because Jews hated Samaritans so much that they deem the soil when Jesus comes to Jacobs well.
Don’t miss this yall, but while he’s resting a woman approaches the well. Lord, I’m about to shout. A woman approaches the well with a water pot seeking to fill her empty vessels.
His disciples had left Him to go get something to eat and immediately Jesus breaks the silence and starts up a conversation about water. Notice in the text, yall he asked the woman for a drink.
(4:7–8): He asks her for a drink.
And this woman she’s shocked, stunned, because she says to him how is it that you’ll ask me for something to drink knowing that I am a Samarian. And to drop the ball on you you do know Jews have no dealings with Samarians.
(4:9): She wants to know why he, a Jew, is even talking to her, a Samaritan!
You do know Samaritan was a mixture of Judaism and Paganism which deemed them defiladed. But ultimately here’s the shout this woman says why would you ask me for something to drink knowing that I am a Samaritan, then watch the text, then Jesus tells this woman if you really knew who I was you wouldn’t be worried about me asking you for something to drink. You would be asking me for something to drink.
#1The contrasts (4:10–27)
a. Jesus contrasts liquid water with living water (4:10–15).
(1) Liquid water (4:11–14)
(a) His revelation (4:13–14): Liquid water must be drunk often, but living water becomes an eternal perpetual spring from within!
(b) Her response (4:11–12): First, how can he draw such water without a rope or bucket, and second, is he greater than the patriarch Jacob?
(2) Living water (4:10, 15)
(a) His revelation (4:10): He will give her living water if she but asks.
(b) Her reaction (4:15): She desires this kind of water!
Because if you drink of me
You will never thirst, hunger, want, struggle again.
Hold up yall this conversation shifts from talking about waterto talking about the woman wickedness. What what Jesus does. Check this out. Jesus tells this woman go get your husband. I can see now as we move, we are moving this gonna trip you out. He says go get your husband,
(4:16): “Go and get your husband.”
and she replies I don’t have a husband
(4:17a): “I don’t have a husband.”
and Jesus respond by saying and you know you right and you have 5 husbands and the man you with right now don’t even belong to you.
(4:17b–18): Jesus says he knows she has had five husbands and is now living with a man to whom she is not married.
I can see now yall don’t want to talk to me,
At this point she recognized that Jesus is not just a good man, but He is a prophet.
(4:19): Attempting to change the subject, she says, “You must be a prophet.”
She tries to divert the conversation and start talking about worship. But watch this, Jesus informed her its not about where you worship but it’s about how you worship.
(4:20): She asks, “Why is it that you Jews insist that Jerusalem is the only place of worship, while we Samaritans claim it is here at Mount Gerizim?”
OK, Yall still don’t feel me.
Because Jesus’ said if you gonna worship Him. God is a spirit and they that worship must worship Him in spirit and truth.
(4:21–24): Jesus says that true worship involves not the wherebut rather the how; that is, God must be worshiped in spirit and truth!
FB, all of us in here this morning can give God praise, you didn’t know it, but the devil in hell can give God praise. Amen but it takes people who have a real relation with God, no the ones that fake and foney, but people who have a real relationship with God to worship Him.
And if you don’t mind I wanna search this house today and find 10 people who came to worship.
No. No. No.. Naw, see yall playing.
I need about 10 of yall who say, I know how to worship Him, because when I praise Him, I praise him for what He’s done for me. But when I worship Him, I worship him for who he is. IS there anybody here know that
He’ll be your
DR.
Deliverer.
Bill payer.
Way maker.
Chain destroyer.
Door opener.
Is there anybody who a worship Him for who he is.
yall still too quiet, turn your volume up.
I need somebody in this house who ain’t scared to open up their mouth and worship Him.
Somebody ought to be, shouting, praising, clapping,
Because HE’s God and God all by Himself.
Pause!!!
While in conversation about worshiping. Jesus reveals to this woman. That he is the Messiah. That why verse 28 says,
John 4:28-29 (KJV)
28 The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men,
29 Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?
(4:25–26): She acknowledges Jesus as the Messiah!
(4:27): The disciples arrive just as she departs and are amazed that he was talking to an immoral woman!
WHY DID SHE LEAVE HER WATERPOTS?
1st Point: She left it because she was in the presence of the messiah.
You got to watch this because she leaves this water pot. This water pot FB had the potential to hold up to 20-30 gallons of water. Which reveal to us this morning that this water pot was large big heavy and could be easily seen. But yet this woman leaves it with Jesus. What puzzled me about the text was, how would you leave your water pot at the well. Now you did come to the well to get some water.
You got to understand that this pot was very high commodity important because water wasn’t that accessible in that day yet when she meets Jesus, she left it at the well. Which reminds me. Whenever you come in contact with Him. You ought to leave some stuff, with Him.
And I just need somebody that says I came to church hurting but I’m gonna leave here healed.
I came to church sad, but I’m gone got leave here happy.
I came to church depressed but I’m going to leave here with some more joy.
Broken/Mended
Worried/Relived
Confidence: Destroyed/Build
Is there anybody else other than this woman in the text that says I’m going to leave it with Him?
I’m going got leave my
family,
children,
grandchildren,
spouse,
my job,
bills.
With Him,
Is there anybody who just come to leave it with him. Well maybe you can’t shout today because it’s weighing you down. Maybe you can’t say hallelujah today because it’s weighting you down. But is there’s one somebody that says I’m not going another day with this burden, break down, casouse, calamity, I going to leave it with Jesus.
PAUSE!!!
Here it is. She leaves it with Jesus. FB, I wanna know something today. What made this woman leave with Jesus. I believe she left it with Jesus is because she recognizes that she was in the presence of the Messiah. Fb, can I tell you something. Its good to hear good singing and good preaching but what good is it to have all that if Jesus done show up.
See this point in their sermon you got to find somebody who had to struggle in their life and look at them and say I did not come to see you today. I came to see Jesus. Because I know if I come to see I’m going to leave a different kind of way.
I just need some real folk that really came to see Jesus.
I ain’t come to play no games,
IKD if yall don’t sing my song,
IDK if the preach don’t preach my favorite sermon,
I just came to see Jesus because whenever Jesus show up
All I just need somebody that need Him to show up today. Tell you neighbor and tell them He will show up. And if He show up, He will sow out.
PAUSE!!
Watch the text. This woman left to water pot. After Jesus revealed He was the Messiah. She left it by Him. When she recognized and believed who Jesus was her focused was them at the instant diverted from the water pot and not it was fixed on the Messiah.
But hers the shout. When the woman left it with Jesus. The water pot was no longer a priority when she met Jesus. Because the truth if the matter is that there is something about being in the presence of Jesus.
I mean come on let’s be real,
we didn’t just get out the bed
and put on church clothes,
look good,
smell good,
and make it look like we got everything going right knowing we been catching hell all week.
We din’t come to church too see what our neighbor had on; we didn’t come to see some human personality.
No see when we came into the house of worship because there is just something unexplainable about bout being in the Lord presence. That is why it is so difficult to miss worship because whenever you miss a worship experience you miss out on what God has for your life, amen because where the spirit of the Lord is there is liberty.
As a matter of fact, can I be honest.
In His presence
There’s an answer to all our problems
There’s a balm for all our bruises
There’s a cure for all our cares
There’s a preacher for all our frustrations
Yall still quiet lets me try it one more time.
In His presence
There’s a deliverance for all our dilemma.
Peace.
What yall waiting on. I’m waiting on you now
In His presence there is unspeakable Joy.
In His presence
IT will make you laugh when ain’t nothing funny
It will make you run when ain’t nobody behind you
It will make you cry when ain’t nobody bothering you.
I just wanna be in His presence.
Peter knew something about being in His presence. One day Jesus lead Jesus and John to the mountain the Lord pierced, and it changed them inside and out. He then said its just good for us to be here. FB, all I’m trying to tell you is that whenever you come into the presence of God, you ought not just want to see His presence, but you ought to want to wanna feel His presence. That why when you come to FBC, make sure you find the section that hollering the most.
How yall come to church and sit by dead folk, who don’t wave their hands, who don’t tell God thank you, who don’t say amen.
See after all this ain’t no social club for the stood up, this is a hospital for the broke up.
I need some real people in here that says I come to church no to play no games I come to church because I need to feel His presence.
In Sunday School last week, I wish you was here. Miniater told us she loves Jazz instrumental music. As a child I was always fascinated and puzzledabout blues. I love me some Marvin Gaye, Marvin Cease, Tyrone Davis, J Black Foot, the fact that men and women would faint and fall out about being the int presence of
B.B. King: The Thrill is Gone
Queen of Soul. Aretha Franklin: RESPECT, that’s what it means to
Johnny Taylor: Last 2 Dollars, Soul Heaven
Marvin Cease: Candy Licker
You know you saved folk cant witness, so let me go back old school on you. But I would literally watch when he come to the stage the fall out, faint, they cry they holla. I mean I watched that but when I got older, I discovered that there is big difference in between
BB KING,
ARETHA FRANKLIN,
JOHNNY TAYLOR,
MARVIN CEASE, presence and Jesus presence.
Stay right there I’m coming to get you.
Because while men and women would faint and fall out in the presence of
BB KING,
ARETHA FRANKLIN,
JOHNNY TAYLOR,
MARVIN CEASE
Luther Vandross
when they got up, they were still the same person they were before they passed out. But when a man experiences the presence of the Lord, he or she may not pass out but one thing for certain they won’t leave the same way they came.
And I just need about 3 of yall that will help me witness because there is something strange about being in the Lord presence.
Hold up, watch this, the real shout is that the devil done so much this week to keep you from makinging it to His presence, and then you went through hell an high water to get here you ought to show the devil I ain’t playing with you when I get there.
That’s why you ought to waver your hands, do your dance, open your mouth because I just wanna be in His presence.
Some of yall sitting there saying it don’t take all that. Why she is clapping. Why you are hollering. Why you are shouting. Can I tell you why? It’s because you don’t know all the stuff we been through. And so when we get in His presence,
I can’t help myself,
I can’t sit still and be quiet,
I can’t calm and cool, reserved and relaxed.
Because when I think of the goodness of Jesus and all He done for me my soul cries out hallelujah.
And if I got 20 of yall in here who crazy enough to help me give God the praise, glory, and honor. Help me lift up Jesus.
Can I get a witness? Closing voice.
Hold on I’m not done. She left it with Jesus because she was in His presence. So, let me oppose a question.
How you come to church Sunday after Sunday and
still leaving burden down.
And you still mean and rude.
Speaking in tongue and using the same tongue to cuss out somebody.
When you come into the presence of the Lord, something ought to change.
I’m moving. I’m moving. I’m moving.
NOT ONLY: When she met Jesus
1st Point: She left it because she was in the presence of the messiah.
2nd Point: She left it because he made her to put down her mass. MASS.
In the history culture and context, This word mass speaks of something of a large object. I just told yall that this water pot was able to hold up to 20 or 30 gallons of water. It’s amazing because this woman has a large and heavy water pot. On her way to Jacobs well. Check this out. Jacob well, in my study she traveled some 2 miles on an inclined path. Logically thinking it had to be on an inclined path because where the Samaritans worshipped it was located in an elevated place.
Now in those day women either carried water pots on their heads or on their shoulders. So, you mean to tell me this woman carried a large water pot for 2 miles on an inclined path on her head or on her shoulders
This reveals to us in the text this morning that, that the pot was prohibiting her progress. In essence the pot was a burden that she was carrying on her head or on her shoulders
But the shout is that when she met Jesus, He released her
See you still sleep, and I’m almost done. Let me try it one more time.
I say when she met Jesus, He released her of what was burdening her.
And the truth of the matter is that many of you can’t shout and can’t give God praise because you’ve experienced great pain because of what you have been caring on your shoulders and what hovering over your head.
Why some of you can’t shout today is because your carrying a heavy burden. I wanna summit to today that you ought to put it down.
This is a word for somebody who ain’t shouted yet. Watch this.
I don’t care
how burdened you are,
how dark it is in your life,
if you can’t even see your way out,
You ought to remember this one word that God has write in his word,
All you have to do is cast all your cares upon Him because He cares for you.
You ought to make up in your mind today, I’m not gonna continue going around here carrying this dead weight another year, month, week, day, hour, minute, second,
And some of yall can’t testify because the dead weight lives in the house with you.
Dead weight got the blood line in your last name.
Today is a good time to leave that with the Lord. See you got to put down some stuff. Some of yall can’t wave your hands because you too burden down. Today is a good day to leave it with the Lord.
NOT ONLY: When she met Jesus
1st Point: She left it because she was in the presence of the messiah.
2nd Point: She left it because he made her to put down her mass. MASS.
Finally, and I’m about to get out of here.
Finally, she left it with Him because she wanted to pursue her Mission.
The soul winner in Sychar(4:28–42)
1. The faithfulness of the Samaritan woman (4:28–38)
a. As seen by the message she proclaims (4:28–30): She returns to Sychar and witnesses to the entire city!
b. As seen by the model she presents (4:31–38): Jesus uses her as a role model to his disciples on the subject of soul winning.
(1) He talks about the real food (4:31–34): When urged to eat some food they have brought him, he says his food is to do God’s will!
(2) He talks about the ripe fields (4:35–38): He says that the fields of human souls are ripe for harvest!
2. The fruitfulness of the Samaritan woman (4:39–42): At her urging, many townspeople agree to hear the Savior and believe in him!
AS I PUT ON MY EXIT SHOES,
Now, when you really examine this text, you will discover this woman and this water pot has something in common.
They were both empty. I know you wonder how I know she was empty. The reason why I know they had something in common because she went to the well to fill the empty water pot. Then we knew she was empty because she had 5 husbands and the man, she was with wasn’t hers. Which reveals to us that she was using the affection of a man to fill that empty void in her life.
The pot she was carrying was invective to her life, but can I tell you something, after she met Jesus, she realized she don’t need a man anymore because now she been filled with something else
And I just need on somebody that say I have tried a lot of stuff to fill your empty void in your life. But look at your neighbor and tell them it’s a good day to let Jesus fill you up.
That why David said, He anointed my head with oil.
My cup runneth over.
I wish I had some people who know they been filled today.
I just need bout 5 of yall and we can cause a disaster in FB, to just say thank God He filled me with His spirit.
I don’t need no fake folk. I need some real folk who can testify that you been filled with His spirit.
That’s why you shout like you shout. Holla like you halla. Because now you don’t need a
Now you don’t need,
Crank pipe
Acholi
Weed
Smoke a joint
Grey Goose and Vodka
But since you met Jesus.
You get happy all by yourself.
Tell you neighbor, Thank God to leave it with Jesus.
She got a commission, and now she can tell everybody. About Jesus Christ.
Why you so quiet. Why you can tell about all the Gossip and never can tell anybody about the Gospel.
Why you are running around her talking about Pray for SO and So
Instead you need to tell folk I know He’s healed in Jesus name.
Why you come by here looking like you in a pity party, if you know what the Lord can do.
Why are you still doubting Him?
I wish I had the old church
You cannot make me doubt Him, I now too much about Him.
You ought to tell somebody what the Lord has done for you.
Say neighbor, I done know about you, but this is a good day to leave it with Jesus.
This is a good day to leave it with Jesus.
Can I get a witness who can testify, that I know something about this man name Jesus?
Old folk use to say He gets sweeter as the days go by.
Tell you neighbor I know Jesus.
And he came 39 prophets, 40 and 2 generations
Born in Bethlehem
Reared in Nazareth
Baptized in the Jordan
Tempted in the wilderness
Healed the sick
He opened blinded eyes.
He walked on water
He healed the Lame
He raised the dead
He made the dumb talk
I got to tell you.
HE picked me up
He turned me around
Placed my feet on solid ground.
I need somebody here to testify,
He bought me out
I need somebody here to testify
I was a sinner on my way to hell, But
Thank God, Thank God, Thank God
For His blood
From His covering
For His protection
Anybody knows He died, He died, didn’t He die, but he didn’t stay dead Early the 3rd day morning

Is there anybody here gonna leave it with Jesus?
JesusRedeems a Samaritan Woman (4:1–42).
B. The sinner at Sychar (4:7–27): A Samaritan woman comes to the well for water.
1. The contact (4:7–9)
a. Jesus’ request (4:7–8): He asks her for a drink.
b. Her response (4:9): She wants to know why he, a Jew, is even talking to her, a Samaritan!
2. The contrasts (4:10–27)
