Delay - to prolong the time or acting, to put off, to stop, detain or hinder for a time, to restrain motion. PROCRASTINATION

Delay in Admission (vs.14-16)

There was only a certain amount of time before anyone could get into the ark. If you don’t get into the ark, judgment is coming. Jesus is our ark of safety.

(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

Seek ye the LORD while he may be found,

Call ye upon him while he is near:

7  Let the wicked forsake his way,

And the unrighteous man his thoughts:

And let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him;

And to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

And they that went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and the LORD shut him in.

When escaping judgment, you have to use the means of escape that God provides, because it’s the only thing that’ll work.
Ark compared to a John Boat (carrying across rocks) Kayak (easily tipped over)
The Ark was 450ft long, 75ft wide, 45ft high. Ship builders have discovered that the best floating dimensions for boats are the exact proportions to the ark. (Length is 10 times it’s height and 6 times it’s width.) If you want to stay afloat, you’d listen to the boat experts. If you want eternal life, you listen to the giver of eternal life.

Delay in Admonition (vs.13,17)

Admonition - the act or an instance of telling someone before hand the danger or risk of something.
We are getting close to the Lord coming back. How do we know that judgment is near?
Evil Marriages (sons of God, daughters of men (vs.4) - Marriages not instituted by God
Evil Might (Mighty men, men of renown) - Gov’t, Power, Communists
Evil Minds (God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was on evil continually)

Son of man, I have made thee a fwatchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me. 18 When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. 19 Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; mbut thou hast delivered thy soul. 20 Again, When a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumblingblock before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand. 21 Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous man, that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he is warned; also thou hast delivered thy soul.

Noah had to have preached judgment was coming to everyone. (2 Peter 2:5 Preacher of Righteousness)
Noah was only 1 of 8 people in the world that lived for God. 1 Billion population (speculation), either way, Noah wasn’t afraid to warn others. There was no time to delay the sounding of coming judgment.
There was obviously less than 120 years for this judgment to occur (Genesis 6:3). We’re not told exactly how long it took to complete the Ark, but we know that when it was completed, God gave seven days for Noah, his family, and the animals to get ready to enter the Ark. After 7 days, judgment came. (Genesis 6:10-16) I imagine Noah was warning everyone he could. I’m sure he was made fun of, but he warned people anyways.
We do not know when Jesus will come back for the church, so we must constantly warn others that judgment is coming.
No one had ever seen rain, but rain was coming. Jesus is coming again. (John 14, 1 Thessalonians 4)

Delay in Action (vs.18-22)

If Noah didn’t believe the covenant that God was going to make with him, he wouldn’t have build the ark.
Faith without works is dead. James 2:26
By Faith (Hebrews 11)
Abel Offered
Abraham went out
Abraham offered up Isaac
Moses refused, forsook Egypt
If Noah had delayed in building this ark, his family wouldn’t have been saved. Noah’s faith was so great, it would prompt him to do whatever it took to do the will of God.

By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, wmoved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.

But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts. 5 For neither at any time nused we flattering words, as ye know, nor a cloke of covetousness; God is witness: 6 Nor of men sought we glory, neither of you, nor yet of others, when we might have been burdensome, as the apostles of Christ. 7 But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children: 8 So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us. 9 For ye remember, brethren, our labour and travail: for labouring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God.

Every second we wait to do the will of God is a second we will never get back.
It’s our duty to take action so that other’s might have an opportunity to be saved.
Why would we as God’s people want to put off the precepts and commandments of God? Noah did ACCORDING TO ALL THAT GOD COMMANDED HIM.

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and oye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

You’re adherence to God’s Word may save someone from judgment. Because Noah did what God told him to, he and his family was saved from judgment.

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
