Pursuing God
Pursuing God
Luke 11:9-10
And I tell you, ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and it will be opened for you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.
The Bible makes it very clear that the mysteries of God are hidden; to truly get the fullness of God, one must seek after them. This is why so many scriptures emphasize the importance of seeking God diligently, with all our hearts.
Mysteries of God aren’t things that are hidden from us, they are things that are hidden for us. In other words, pursuing God it’s like a game of hide and seek that God always let you win.
I found an acronym that I want you to write down.
P = Passage
take time to read through the Bible and let the word of God get into your heart and mind as you do your reading.
U = Underline
don’t be afraid to write in your Bible. It’s time to personalize it by underlining, circling, and highlighting the things that really speak to you.
R = Response
Did God speak something to you through his word today? Well, right about it already! Grab a pin in a journal and begin to write down where you are in life and what you feel God is calling you to do each day.
S = Stand in Prayer
Stand- not physically,but spiritually. After you read, pray and believe for great things in and around you through your life.
U = Unshakable Declaration
While you are in prayer, take some time to declare the word of God over your life.
E = Eternal Goals
Now what? You’ve read, you’ve underlined, you’ve prayed; now take the next step. As you close out your prayer and devotion, right out at least one eternal goal for today what has God placed on your heart for your future.
2. Don’t wait to feel like pursuing God.
we can’t base our pursuit of God on how we feel in the moment. How do you think a marriage can last 50+ years? Is it because they wake up feeling like serving their spouse every day? Or because the feeling they had 50 years ago never dwindle or changed?
Absolutely not! Covenant relationships are about a commitment, not necessarily a feeling. We can’t wait to “ feel“ God to start seeking after him. We must walk by faith on his word that says.
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
Hebrews 11:6
And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.
Psalms 105:4
Search for the Lord and for his strength;
continually seek him.
